An upward price trend is very unlikely this month, therefore, DRAM contract prices are likely to post a sequential decline, Pai said. Whether a price rebound will be encouraged by pre-holiday season procurement is still subject to further observation, he noted. Some DRAM makers have adjusted their shipments from air to sea due to cost concerns. Given that sea transportation takes time, some industry players have suggested that PC vendors may start preparing stocks for the holiday season during the summer months.
