Cheap As Free Air Cooling Mod

Working in a Lab for a few years, I got to see some great machines and innovative cooling techniques for high-powered equipment. One of the guys I worked with designed very high-powered water-cooled electromagnets. The guy was a wealth of information about air and water cooling techniques.

His greatest lesson was about "Volume vs Flow". The key principle in cooling something is to have as small a cooling Volume as possible and as great a cooling Flow as you can manage. By limiting the volume of cooling fluid (air or water), you concentrate the coolant on the hot stuff.

Fully in agreement; problem is every case; mobo is different. And, there will always be "bad critics"

I know it works; I've done it.

Added:

Done the top part as illustrated; the lower portion is a different story. My problem is routing the "hot air" to the rear exhaust with AGP getting my way; unless it is a Lian-Li.

Then, you will have morons saying it looks sh_t.

Well, it's a good cooling mod and if you would spend some time you could realy make it look awsome. Tough, it won't work with every mobo because of the damned ATX cable. I think I'm going to give that a try (if I have the time for it), to further increase the cooling capabilities of my SLK947U
