ATI takes gamers into 3D worlds at the Games Convention

ATI to sponsor ESL eSports while presenting itself in annual city fair style to gamers

Leipzig, Germany- August 17, 2004 - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT), the world's leading developer and manufacturer of innovative 3D graphics products, will be presenting itself together with six of its qualified board partners at this year's Games Convention in Leipzig on August 19-22, where it will also be sponsoring Turtle Entertainment's ESL eSports activities. "Get in the Game" is the slogan for three main activities to take place on 800 sqm of exhibition floor space:

Together with Intel, ATI will be sponsoring the ESL TV show stage in Hall 5, Booth 51, with a day of show items, games with prizes and other activities to do with electronic sports. As a part of this show, ATI, together with Intel and Turtle Entertainment, will be hosting the first GC (Games Convention) Players Night & eSports Award on the evening of August 21 at the Anker in Leipzig, marking the first time ever for prizes to be awarded to the best players and teams in the electronic sports arena.

A total of 28 high-end gaming machines will be on show in Hall 5, Stall C49, will be available in an action zone together with qualified board partners ASUS, Connect3D, HIS, MSI, Sapphire and TUL. Barebone PCs with ATI RADEON X800 chips will provide visitors an opportunity to play popular game titles and talk to the people from ATI and ATI's partners in person. OCRANA.ATI, the LAN Clan sponsored by ATI, will present its latest version of the racing spectacle "Life for Speed" and every visitor gets the possibility to be at the wheel and can show what it means to compete with Formula 1 stars. The OCRANA.ATI-Team will be there to answer questions and give assistance.

The trade fair's guests can dive into even more gaming atmosphere at ATI's VISUAL EXPERIENCE, a real 3D world of light and sound effects as well as optical illusions. This ATI highlight can be found just next to the ATI-INTEL-ESL show stage in Hall 5, Stall A50.

"The GC gives ATI an ideal opportunity to bring the unique ATI experience to everyone. We'll be taking full advantage of this opportunity with our unusual, offbeat appearance," commented Uwe Semtner, Head of Marketing EMEA, ATI Technologies (Europe) GmbH. "And if the gamers remember this experience long after the GC is over, we'll be very happy. The GC will be lending us a platform to get to know more about what gamers want in an easy, relaxed atmosphere, while increasing brand awareness amongst gamers at the same time."
