ATi to Discontinue Intel Chipset Development

Although ATi has promised the acquisition from AMD would not affect the shipment of Intel platform based chipset, manufacturers are making careful decision on the product development, to lesser or to terminate.

From the documents issued from ATi to manufacturers, the chipset authorization gained from Intel has no time limit, but FSB, which is limited up to 1066MHz. And therefore, ATI has got authorized to give support to the new Core 2 Duo processors. The existing chipset RD600, RD500, RS600, RC410 and RC415 would continue its support to Intel platform without any authorization problem.
