Default AMD's B3 Stepping Phenom Previewed, TLB Hardware Fix Tested

It was literally a week before we received our Phenom samples that many within AMD learned of a serious errata in the processor that could potentially have a significant impact on system stability or performance, depending on how it was handled. Microprocessor errata are quite common - no CPU is perfect and many are patched with fixes for these errata through BIOS updates throughout the life of the CPU.

With the TLB errata fixed in B3, AMD is one step closer to a competitive Phenom part. Unfortunately Phenom still suffers from low clock speeds and that's something AMD will be working on in the coming months. It will take a combination of higher clock speeds and very competitive pricing to really save Phenom.
