Default Albatron goes big with 42-inch optical touch monitor

Taking the touch trend to another level, Albatron has today introduced a nice, big 42-inch monitor with multi-touch capabilities. Seen below, the display makes use of optical touch technology which means it features optical sensors and reactors installed around the frame to track finger movements. According to Albatron, the optical approach is more sensitive and accurate than resistive technology, hopefully for those who buy the 42-inch display, that is true.

Spec-wise, the Optical Touch Monitor (OTM), has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 9 ms response time, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, a maximum brightness of 700 cd/m2, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Hm, 42" "monitor" with the same/smaller resolution as a 24" monitor... more like a touch screen TV.

you'd want to have larger pixels for touching with your digits

I wouldn't want to be sitting 6" away from a 42" television just to use touchscreen controls.

And what makes it a monitor?

I always thought of the difference in monitor / TV was from a monitor's much better resolution / pixel size. Specs on this one are identical to any 1080P LCD TV.
