 |  Adobe buys Macromedia for $3.4 billion SOFTWARE FIRM Adobe has snapped up Macromedia for $3.4 billion. It's an obvious fit. The deal is being accounted for by shares and is expected to close by the end of this year. | With MS saying the Longhorn to be released in 2006 making PDF obsolete this move may be unavoidable.

 | uhm; MS wanted PDF to be obsolete 5 years ago, and Adobe is still being used the most.
