Default Adobe buys Macromedia for $3.4 billion

SOFTWARE FIRM Adobe has snapped up Macromedia for $3.4 billion.
It's an obvious fit. The deal is being accounted for by shares and is expected to close by the end of this year.

Stephen Elop, Macromedia's CEO will become president of worldwide field operations at Adobe.

With MS saying the Longhorn to be released in 2006 making PDF obsolete this move may be unavoidable.
