Default Ram dead???

I need to fix a pc for a friend of mine

but everytime i start the setup of xp, it crashes

I've formated the HD in an other PC, so the HD can't be it

Now i'm running memtest86, but it stops with test 1, sometimes it does test 2, and only 1 time it got to test 4

is this RAM for the garbage bin??

if you can't run memtest there are still 2 options

- the ram
- the mainboard

for example, my pc3200 generated errors on my abit kx7-333, tones tested it, no problems....
