Vapochill Emergency ##copy-paste from VapoChill Support Forum don't worry, I read the fine manual, but sadly it didn't really help me here is the problem, it only started today. the vapochill and 2 Fans are connected to a 300W PSU, which is seperated from the rest of the PC (which runs on a 340W Enermax PSU) The compressor does not run continuously, but with certain intervals. the temperature is fluctuating very rapidly, sometimes it gets to -12°C and then in a matter of seconds it changes to +10°C. this does not allow my PC to boot properly. sometimes the temperature drops very rapidly to -199 after which the display shows "lor" I have allready tried reconnecting the temperature probe (as the manual suggests), but that did not help. any support you could give me would be greatly appreciated. It's quite an annoying problem, especially since my laptop broke down last week and I have a school assignment to make by the end of this week, and without my computer, you know...

Had a similar problem with mine, it seem you have to connect something to the 5v line of the psu (like a hdd) to keep a stable 12v to the vapo. Weird, but it did the trick here second possible cause: a leak in the system > not enough gas present, this can be checked by a refrigator technician.

well I'll try connecting my CD-ROMdrive tonight and see if it works. but the second problem seems less probable, because the guy from which I bought this Vapo unit (prinz) ensured me that de compressor had recently been refilled by a refrigerator technician.

only a cd-rom won't work, you really need a hdd on that psu http://forum.vapochill.com/showthread.php?threadid=892 a thread I opened there, this helped me out edit: as I recall this is the same vapo I once had in my hands and I had it refilled edit 2: if that's the same vapo, I did also replace the chill control

well, the CD-ROM trick didn't work. i'll try to connect it to a hard drive later today. just one question, where can i find the serial number of my vapo unit? is it written on the compressor itself? of on the chillcontrol?

I just want my computer to be up and running at the moment. mayb I'll try to get it running again in the future, but right now I just can't spare the time to be troubleshooting that thing all the time. :rod: | |

just a little update. I tried hooking up the Vapo to the original 200W PSU today and I let it run for about an hour, it worked perfect (ok, there was no CPU attached to the compressor to cool down, but still) but I also tried a 300W no-brand PSU and well, It just couldn't cut it! I only gave 11.3V on the 12V line, and when the compressor engine started up, it dropped to 10.5V, which caused the Vapo to shut down again. I also tried a 340W Chieftec PSU. and that PSU shut itself down after 3-4 seconds, so that I don't have a clear reading about that, but is remains a bit weird so basically since I allready took the Vapo out of my case, and in retrospect, my HSF keeps my casetemp lower @ less noise, so I decided not to put the Vapo back into my case. conclusion >> It's up for sale for whoever is interested :-) Interested? >>hitchhacker@pandora.be PS: your smilies are way cooler than Shrimpcity's

well, I'd still like to get 250€ for it. the unit itself does niet seem to bee defected. (I've let it run outside the case for a couple of hours now and it ran without a glitch) but I would like to stress that it is not inside the original VapoChill case, I can give you the case if you want, but I don't have a clue how to put in there myself... anyway, If you'd like you can come check it out, but I don't plan on using in anymore.
