Intel Xeon X3320 45nm Quad Core Overclocking Test

Overclocking/Overclocking Tests by windwithme @ 2008-04-04

The Xeon X3320 is the server version of the desktop Q9300 Quad Core processor, the new 45nm process makes this a cool running CPU. In this quick overclocking test we see if the X3320 which comes with stock 2.5Ghz clocks is any good at overclocking. Similar priced as the Q9300 it will be interesting.

With 4 cores running at 2.5Ghz, the single core performance is not going to be extraordinary compared to the previous Core 2 Duo series. Yes this X3320 (and Q9300) have more L2 Cache (6Mb) but it can only do so much.

Stable overclock was reached on air cooling… 3600Mhz ! Impressive knowing that it took a good Q6600 sample to reach the same height, and not always with air cooling!
