Casetek V.Orpheus ATX Midi Case Review

Cases & PSU/Cases by jmke @ 2007-02-23

Casetek V.Orpheus is a midi-sized ATX case with a massive 220mm fan slapped on the side panel and a fully functional fan controller and temp readout in the front on a large LCD. All this can be had for a competitive price, so where the catch? We place a high end Core 2 system inside and compare its thermal/noise results with the competition.

From the Outside

Look from the outside

The V.Orpheus has two very distinctive features which set it apart from your average run of the mill case, the front panel holds a large LCD screen, the side panel has a large 220mm fan which pulls hot air outside of the case.

This large fan will provide negative pressure inside the case, which will cause cool air to be pulled through the other openings, most importantly through the large round cutout with dust filter on the side panel.

The top panel has audio I/O ports, 2x USB and 1 firewire, as well as an exhaust grill for the optional top 80mm fan.

Too much air flow restriction from all fan grills design; low cutting die cost. Otherwise ...... ?
