Cases & PSU/Power Supplies by SidneyWong @ 2006-03-31

HEC/Compucase is a major OEM power supply and case manufacturer. Its business partners include Toshiba, Hitachi, LG Electronics and some of the well known brands in the PC enthusiasts market. In my last business trip to Southern China, HEC sent me an invitation to tour their plant located in Shenzhen, China.

Power Supply HEC way :

With a warm welcome, Frank led me up to a conference room where I was introduced to Mr. Bill Wang, Vice President of Manufacturing; Mr. Ben Lee, QA Manager.

Within minutes, I was led by Frank to start touring around the large plant. Before I begin, here are some photos taken from "case" manufacturing section.

HEC employs continuous process production technique. Simply put, there are hardly any materials in the queue (waiting to be processed) with exception of PSU housing which is stamped and painted separately. There are QC stations located at every critical check points along the PCB assembly process. With over 20 years in materials and production management, I am always delighted to watch an operation that runs without waste; effectively and efficiently.
