Riotoro CR1080, a small black box with amasing potential

Riotoro, is a spin-off company made out of former Corsair employees under which the infamous mr Rick Allen. Their company goal is to revolutionize cases and cooling equipment. Though Riotoro had to start from zero in a highly competitive and saturated market. Nevertheless the designs they have in their line-up are up for any challenge. Especially the CR1080 we review today got me intrigued at Computex 2017. Rick Allen told us that Q3 in 2017, their latest releases will be distributed on the European continent. More competition is better right? Time to open the box and see what potential this little black box has.

A closer look part 2:

Moving onto the second chamber housing the power supply and storage devices.

Standard ATX sized PSUs are supported up to 175x150x85mm (LxWxH), not bad for an enclosure of these dimensions. We had to re-route the front panel cables before we could install the power supply. Missing are some rubber grommets to reduce PSU vibrations on this Riotoro CR1080.

As you can see on the picture below the Riotoro Onyx power supply blends in perfectly. Apparently these power supplies are made by Seasonic, not a bad partner to trust your hardware too. Cables can be tucked neatly away in the front compartment.

Storage wise we have the option for one 3 1/2 and one 2.5" drive on the other side on this swivelling drive bracket. Just remove the thumbscrew and you have rapid access to both your drives.

It takes some careful power cable bending but if this old fart can do it so can you!

But storage capacity is not over yet, there's one easily removable plastic HDD bracket next to the swivelling one.No need for screws when using a 3 1/2 HDD, it just locks itself into position. It doesn't get an easier than this!

Behind this tray there's room for an optical drive or another 2.5 or 3 1/2 storage device. Plenty of options for such a tiny form factor.
