Riotoro CR1080, a small black box with amasing potential

Cases & PSU/Cases by leeghoofd @ 2017-10-23

Riotoro, is a spin-off company made out of former Corsair employees under which the infamous mr Rick Allen. Their company goal is to revolutionize cases and cooling equipment. Though Riotoro had to start from zero in a highly competitive and saturated market. Nevertheless the designs they have in their line-up are up for any challenge. Especially the CR1080 we review today got me intrigued at Computex 2017. Rick Allen told us that Q3 in 2017, their latest releases will be distributed on the European continent. More competition is better right? Time to open the box and see what potential this little black box has.

A closer look:

Before moving on to the second chamber we will still focus on the cooling aspect of the CR1080. Standard our CR1080 is equipped with a single red 120mm LED fan. Though there's room for enhanced cooling:

  • Optional 2nd 120mm front fan
  • Optional 2 x 120mm fans in the bottom part
  • Optional rear 80mm fan
  • Optional 80mm front fan in the storage/PSU chamber

Take note that the front panel is equipped with a filter like foam. Riotoro claims it is easily removable and cleanable. The intake for the powersupply on the sidepanel also has a intake filter, though no real dustfilter. The bottom intake also has no filter at all, really surprising as one can install two optional 120mm fans in that position.

Red Riotoro branding on the front removable panel and Toro logos on both sides of the same panel.

The front panel is equipped with the bare necessities: The power on and reset button, the HD audio in and out jack and two USB 3.0 ports.

Once powered on the front panel is surrounded by a RED LED light.
