Streacom FC8 Evo Fanless Chassis Review

Cases & PSU/Cases by stefan @ 2013-06-18

The FC8 Evo case from Streacom has a very clean, professional look and is ideal for people which want absolute silence when working at their PC. The installation instructions are explained with both photos and text and if we are patient, there should be no issues. Also, there are plenty of additional accessories that can be bought from them like the slot-loading optical drive, USB 3.0 cable or IR sensor + remote.

Test Setup and Test Results

To test the Streacom FC8 Evo Fanless chassis, we have used the following configuration:

CPU: Intel Pentium G630

CPU Cooler: Streamcom 4-heatpipe fanless design

Motherboard: ASRock Z77E-ITX

RAM: GeIL Black Dragon 4GB DDR2133 (@1066)

Video: Onboard

Power Supply: Streamcom Nano150 PSU

HDD: Hitachi Travelstar 5K250 250GB

Optical: LG slot-loading

In order to get the IDLE and Full Load temperatures, we first did some light browsing to heat the system up and afterwards we have left the system alone for about 30 minutes. The CPU did stabilize at about 50 degrees Celsius; then we ran AIDA64 with their System Stability Test for an additional of 30 minutes. The CPU went up to about 85 degrees Celsius, while the motherboard sensors recorded 60 degrees Celsius. The PCH became a little toasty with temperatures of 88 degrees Celsius, while the HDD stayed at an acceptable 47 degrees Celsius. During all this time we did not experience any signs of instability and the right side of the case became quite hot, a sign that the heat transfer from the heatpipes was done correctly.
