On the bottom side of the NAS, we wil find multiple ventilation holes, mostly located to the frontal side of the device, which act as intakes; some more holes are also located in the PCB area (the brains of the whole NAS):
Four square-shaped feet are to be found on the bottom side of the unit, which help with the NAS stability on the table:
By removing the frontal cover, we will expose the drive bays, with 4 preinstalled plastic trays:
If we remove all the trays, we will see quite clearly the daughterboard which makes the link between the NAS internals and the actual drives:
When looking on the left side, we'll see the ventilation grills through the Synology logo:
The other side is covered with a metallic plate and behind it there is the NAS motherboard:
The included plastic trays are easy to remove and can accommodate both 2.5'' and 3.5'' drives, by looking at the pre-drilled holes:

When starting up the NAS for the first time, it will start booting and signal us with the Status LED that further configuration must be performed:
