could anyone tell me how the outcome would be if you used high performance fans (delta's for example) ?

More air movement with high speed fan = increase heat exchange rate = lower temp :)

yeah but with heat pipes, things can turn out slightly different.

take the sp-97 for example, with low speed / quit fans, it performs quite well but a lot of heatsinks do so aswell but it's not untill you use high cfm fans that the sp-97 shines. Then, it really stands out and others fall behind.

I'm concidering buying a new high perf Axp heatsink but I would rather not buy 3 or 4 heatsinks to test wich one is best because I will end up loosing quite a bit of money since I'll only be using one and sell of the rest with some loss.

Now I know the sp-97 does great but what about those towers, will they perform up to par with the sp-97 or will they linger behind as the do in the review with the fan speed on high.

uhm in the test I used a 80mm fan which spins at 4600rpm @ max speed, not too bad and quite loud, you won't see much difference with a super loud delta though

about the DP-102 being a core crusher, had no problems installing it, plug & play.

Well, when the max coefficient of the heatsink is reached with the max air flow; any higher will become diminishing return. Similar to increasing vcore in overclocking.:)

in the high noise category, yes, but focus have shifted more towards silent cooling for some time now :)

but that hasn't been tested if it's even possible to reach that point with what we have at our disposal. Perhaps the sp-97 is more efficient then the rest but perhaps the (bigger) towers can dissipate heat beyond a point where the sp-97 already reached the end if it's capabilities...

only way to find out is to test it, maybe when I have a fair amount of "cashflow" going on :)

lazyman was talking about that there is a point where you hit a wall and more air displacement won't decrease your temps anymore, or at least not significantly.

I was merely wondering if this "wall" lies higher - so to speak- for those big tower coolers then it does for the sp-97
