What I don't understand is:
some WU's are worth 10.4 points and my cpu works 11:00h on it.
other WU's are worth 7.6 points and my cpu works 15:56h on it.

Time/Frame for the 10.4 point WU= 3:18
Time/Frame for the 7.6 point WU= 9:34

This sucks!
If I would have all 10.4 WU's that are ready in 11h, I would go up much faster in the stats!
I miss the logic here; I thaught, how "harder" the WU(=more time/frame), the more points u get...

From now on, I'm gonna delete WU's that don't give me enough points, only those of 10.4 points in 11h will be allowed on my system

don't do this please
since the WU´s you delete might hold to key to solution to cancer.. or.. and..

you get WU dependant of your CPU power
everyone gets the 7.6 points @ 15h

so in the end all remains the same :)

Bosw8er 8th January 2003 09:14

Don't delete !!
==> It doesn't make ANY influence at all (look below at how points are calculated). Or you do 24 hours on a 10 point WU, or you do 12 hours on two 5 point WU's ...
==> you are ONLY giving the Stanford more work and load

How do you determine how many points a work unit is worth? Before putting out any new work unit, we benchmark it on a dedicated 500MHz Celeron machine (this machine does not have SSE/3DNow). We plug the results of this into the following formula:
points = 2 * multiplier * (daysPerWU)
where daysPerWU is -- no surprise -- the number of days it took to complete the unit.

Please, this is a project for a good cause. The ladder system and :rod: are a fun bonus ... let's not do foolish things which only undermine the project.
What's next: make your own WU's, crack WU's, ... ? And thus getting lot's of points ? And thus destroying a perfectly good project of which you or your family could benifit from ?

hoo hoo hoo
I was only joking about that part (look at the  at the end of my previous post)
I'm not so  ly obsessed ;)
I just noticed that and wrote it down here...
I'm not gonna spend more time on it, looking for the right WU's, that would be TOO

So, I'm just folding on

ModdiN MansoN 8th January 2003 12:18
