No they don't

jmke 8th August 2004 18:02

men xcuses, the network was VERY sucky, unable to ping gamers on other tables; let alone share/play games

So I read (on other fora)

Too bad.
Don't really understand why rent-a-lan doesn't send crew with their network... I guess problems would have been solved much faster then.

jmke 8th August 2004 18:26

using only a 100mbit link between network switches is what killed it all I think.. and the fact that there was ALOT of broadcast on the network.

40-60kb/s constantly

Last friends lan we played the co-op for more than 3 hours ... altough my fingers were completely numb the game was getting better and better :super:

Had to stop because of fatigue

jmke 8th August 2004 19:41

on Serious/Nightmare difficulty level and 7-8 players this game is very fun, especially when you start attacking in formations with the minigun, every monster dies in less then 5 seconds :)

They are to tough for that :)
But we created some nice lasershows with the Tie-fighter cannon

The funny thing was, sundaymorning I went to inspect the switches myself and I notices only one of the gigabit upload ports were used. 24 ppl on 1 gigibit upload is to much.
And I think there were some virusses broadcasting all over the place, making to much traffic.

Bosw8er 8th August 2004 20:12

It was mostly fun because ALL players :
- completely forgot time
- died of laugher when suddenly attacked by 100+ monsters

Next private lan we'll be playing SS2 + Rallisport challenge + BF 1942

Hope to get 2 more old fart friends motivated so we are 8 in stead of the usual 6

jmke 8th August 2004 20:28

define "old fart" :)

Do I know the definitions? Plus a few more.;)

When you start paying for something that you don't own;
When you tell someone something you might not want to do/hear;
When you feel quilty going out with your friends;
When you go home right after work;

You ARE an Old Fart.;)

jmke 8th August 2004 23:10

few more pics from the LAN, a group picture was not really "needed" as we were only 4 of [M], all of which have been spotted on camera a lot in the past:)

jmke 8th August 2004 23:11

notice the faulty blue pixel on my Q17 TFT (the one closest to the camera), it appears as blue on everything but white colors. it happened during transport I guess :(

the projector you see in the photo was never used at LANwars, I wonder why they set it up in the first place...

jmke 8th August 2004 23:13

here you see TerAngreal crawling from under his desk Sunday around 9am after having slept 5 hours on the floor :)

(I didn't use a flash, otherwise he would've beaten me up ;))

jmke 8th August 2004 23:14

best thing I found @ the LAN were episodes of "Whose Line Is It Anyway"

awesome show!

100Mbit between switches? I thought they used gigabit between them?

Should be sufficient. In a matter of fact, it's standard on all lans.
But since those switches support trunking, using both ports wouldn't hurt ofcourse :)

"Whose Line Is It Anyway" sucks btw
@last picture: was it always that light at day? Or did they open a gate or something so everybody could run away without crushing each other?
Yellow boy: LW crew? What table is that anyway?

jmke 8th August 2004 23:56

it did not feel like gigabit, even at the end when everybody was nearly gone I only got like 100-200kb/s...

it was light in the morning when they opened up the curtains for material to be brought in + camera set for showing more then can be seen IRL :)

Lanwars T-shirt dude: no idea

ps: Who's line rules !

I always had 10MB upload and 6MB download, but with drops to 0kb/s so I often had to redownload stuff :(

They still airing that on Kanaal 2 ? It's great fun but sometimes I get the impression it's not as spontanious as they would like you to think.

jmke 9th August 2004 15:56

the script and scenes can become repetitive, but some things are just too weird :)

Liquid3D 10th August 2004 18:18

I'm on my way, hitch-hiking..although I had to turn back at one point. I was on this big-ole Navagation buey, and the Shipping lanes were simply too busy for any Cargo vessel to "pull over".

So I got a Coastguard Cutter ride back to Narragansett Rhode Island, and got my surfboard, wetsuit, a huge floatable back-pack, fresh water, and a blinky light for my headware.

Now I'm going to be surfing the next Tanker wake. Should be there in three weeks, so look for me at the Docks..I'm packing that 2048MB kit of Kingston for ya JMKE. Hope it doesn't get wet.

jmke 10th August 2004 18:47

you should be getting here by August next year ;)

jmke 10th August 2004 23:24

muehaha; local television station made a report out the LAN, I'm in it during the first 3 seconds or so of the flick. I'm the dude sitting next to the flash coloured-lighted case :)

FreeStyler 11th August 2004 10:15

problem was that the core switches were phucked up. And they couldn't manage them.
In the end they were replaced by a regular 10/100 switch.
That solved most problems. If there is a next time, it will be better.
