Users flee

Twitter’s rivals are reporting a huge increase in applications from users escaping the rule of Elon [look at me] Musk.

Over the weekend, Twitters users saw more outages and downtime, and Musk responded by limiting the number of Tweets users could see in a day.

Twitter users decided enough was enough and started looking elsewhere to post photos of their breakfasts. Unfortunately, the unexpected and free membership applications surprised Twitter's smaller rivals.

Bluesky, a decentralised Twitter-like social network, had to pause new signups “temporarily” to try and resolve performance issues. Even though you still need an invite code to join Bluesky, the influx of new users seems to be a problem. The problem was soon fixed, and we are informed that applications are now possible.

Mastodon is also seeing a significant spike in users. According to one tracker, the platform has seen more than 26,000 new accounts appear.
