Default Qualcomm rolls out three new Snapdragon mobile chipsets

Entry-level SD 460, SD 662, and the gaming-oriented SD 720G

Qualcomm has announced three Snapdragon mobile chipset to cover the entry-leve and mid-range smartphone markets, the Snapdragon 460, Snapdragon 662, and the gaming-oriented Snapdragon 720G.

Both the Snapdragon 662 and the Snapdragon 460 are based on an 11nm manufacturing process, and we are looking at octa-core SoCs, with up to 2GHz clocked Kryo 260 cores for the SD 662 and up to 1.8GHz clocked Kryo 240 cores for the SD 460.

Both come with Adreno 610 GPU and share a lot of features and specifications, including Snapdragon X11 LTE modem (DL 390 Mbps/UL 150 Mbps), WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1, Quick Charge 3, and Spectra 340 ISP (340T for the SD 662), with support for triple-cameras, up to 48MP photos, and 1080p at 60fps video recording.
Snapdragon 720G to bring gaming to mid-range smartphones

The Snapdragon 720G is made on an 8nm manufacturing process, and this is an octa-core SoC with 2.3GHz Kryo 465 CPU cores and Adreno 618 GPU. Since this is a gaming-oriented SoC, it will have certain Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, but don't expect all the features that are reserved for Snapdragon 865, since SD 720G is a mid-range SoC after all.

According to details provided by Qualcomm, it will include Game Anti-Cheat Extensions, Game Fast Loader, True HDR Gaming with 10-bit color depth support, and aptX Adaptive audio provides high-quality synchronized sound, at least as far as gaming-oriented features are concerned.

In addition to Kryo 465 CPU cores and Adreno 618 GPU, the SD 720G also packs Hexagon 692 processor with Tensor and Scalar Accelerators, and Vector eXtensions, Spectra 350L ISP with support for up to 192MP photos and 4K at 30fps video recording, Snapdragon X15 LTE modem (DL 800 Mbps/UL 300 Mbps), WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1, and Quick Charge 4.0 support.
