Tang indicated that only about one-fourth of global desktop and notebook PCs currently adopt DDR2. Global DDR2 output, however, accounts for about 40% of global memory output, which means oversupply for memory makers, he noted......

In related news, major memory makers including PSC, Winbond Electronics and ProMOS Technologies are aggressively buying back company shares from the market. Observers commented that with most share prices dropping below their respective book values, memory makers interpret it as a sign the industry has dropped to its lowest point.
