Default CES 2020: XPG Displays Next-gen PCIe 4.0 SSDs

Stopping by the ADATA/XPG ballroom, we were greeted by a slew of items ranging from new PCIe 4.0 SSDs (Sage, Indigo, and Pearl) with read/write speeds reaching up to 7000/6000 MB/s, to the unique cylinder-shaped Volta full tower chassis.

First, the Volta Case. This almost R2D2 looking cylinder case features a premium metal appearance along with RGB lighting. The Volta uses vertical air-flow to keep the internals cool and there can be a lot of them. The chassis supports up to E-ATX sized motherboards, three video cards, and multiple radiators that all sit on a tray that slides out to expose the guts. The case is in prototype form at the moment. Pricing wasn’t pinned down at this time.

Next, we saw new concept PCIe 4.0 SSDs in the Sage, Indigo, and Peal. The new SSDs can reach read/write speeds of up to 7000/6000 MB/s with the Rainier (IG5236) controller. Capacities on these drives are up to a large 4TB as well. Pricing wasn’t mentioned, but they are targeting a 2H 2020 launch date.
