Default CES 2020: MSI Shows Off Gaming Laptops, Monitors & GPUs

As CES 2020 continues on, we stopped by the MSI ballroom and had a chance to see the new wares on display. The large room was chock full of hardware from laptops to desktop with components and peripherals in between. Standing out was the new MSI Optix MEG381CQR Gaming Monitor driven by the new MSI MEG Aegis Ti5 Gaming Desktop. The unique design of the chassis with the OLED “gaming knob” on the front panel set this apart from other cases with its almost wing-like silhouette.

The fancy knob is reminiscent of something seen in luxury cars (think BMW iDrive). It is able to display system information including CPU speed and temperature, change performance modes and control LEDs on the case as well as the Optix Monitor. The parts inside will vary and it can run up to a Core i9 processor, three M.2 2280 SSDs, three drive bays (2x 2.5″, 1x 3.5″), Wi-Fi 6 integrated motherboard, and up to an MSI GTX 2080Ti.

Meanwhile, the monitor is a 38″ IPS 2300R Curved panel sporting 3840×1600 (21:9, UWQHD) resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate. The premium monitor has RGB lighting across the bottom as well as an OLED screen that displays system information similar to the display on the case.
