Default AMD could be working on three new high-end chipsets

One for upcoming 3rd gen Threadripper CPUs

More AMD 3rd gen Threadripper rumors have appeared online and while the CPU has been already spotted in Geekbench database, a list of three new HEDT chipsets have now appeared online.

With a possible engineering 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper CPU sample, codename Sharkstooth, showing up earlier this month, and earlier reports suggesting that it could launch in October, it does not come as a surprise that more information has started to appear online.

Now, a list of three new high-end HEDT chipsets has appeared online, codename TRX40, TRX80, and WRX80. Originally leaked by momomo_us on Twitter, these new chipsets are believed to be different variations of chipsets for upcoming 3rd gen Threadripper CPUs, aiming different markets, gaming/enthusiast and workstation-class markets.

Since 3rd generation Threadripper CPUs are based on Zen 2 architecture and derived from AMD's Rome server CPUs, these could end up with up to 64 CPU cores, an 8-channel DDR4 memory interface, as well as 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes.
