Explain? :p |
guess why I did that :^D and no, the card ain't dead! |
maybe to get the heatsink off??? but I can't believe the card ain't dead |
:^D |
you'll see the result tomorrow ;) |
you weren't heating it.... you just putted it in water and B cuz of the OC those chips where so hot, the water was boiling am i right or am i right |
T's version of watercooling?, when your vidcard get too hot, just take out the card and put it in some water ? :D |
Since he's H²O experimenting. I think he wast the GPU waterbock on there, and this one off. Looking at the airbubbles in the water, the entire pan is boiling and that's NOT the card's fault. There is vapor all over the pan, it's just concentrated on the card because it's a good point for vapor to start. AND you can see a blue shimmer in the back of the cooker. Typical for oxigenated gas fires. Ow yea, and I'm a freak, I know. |
indeed, the water is boiling |
i knew he was weird from the moment i laid eyes on him |
tested it yesterday late evening, entire screen was full of stripes and so. I thought it hadn't dried up perfectly. this morning: I even don't get a screen after removing CMOS battey + cmos discharge: NOTHING. power goes on but that's all GF2 nor TNT2 boots. without videocard, even not a beep that's one high-quality gainward GF2PRO down the drain and one KR7A-R mainboard. |
rofl |
Next time use a steamer. That pan is conducting the energy from the flame right into your card. The water itself can't get higher then +/-100°C The pan can. PS, a blue flame is about 1500°C |

mainboard is dead, but I'll try to RMA the card. gainward offers 36months warranty, now gotta find a paycheck of such a card. the idiot from who I bought it probably lost it |

you could've guessed that it would turn out this way |

are you gonna eat that with fries? :p |
mainboard is fine, a PCI card got loose causing the mainboard not to POST I'll give all pics from yesterday this evening ;) ah well, the cooking trick busted my card. but hey, now we know that the method isn't very reliable. I sacrificed my card for this, let's hope I can RMA it now |
|
the card before http://users.pandora.be/deschildre/m...g/PIC00003.jpg the water heating up in the pan while I was thoroughly stirring it submerged my card when the water was about to cook, then took it out. popped of the heatsink using a creditcard and a screwdriver. I tried it before that way but it didn't work. with the adhesive heated up it worked :) tadaa! I'll try this evening a few techniques to revive it, let's see if it work ;) |
:^D didn't you know you had to dry it first before use ? read manual :super: |
graka manual "dry before use, not drying card before use could result in a system crash or damaged components" |
I let it dry for 3.5 ~ 4 hours, other people let it dry that long and it was fine perhaps some water got under the capacitators. the vidcard is now in the oven ;) |
you had to use a fan or something else to get all the water out, not the oven :) |
I did that, let a fan blow on it all evening oven trick doesn't work, card still artifacts like hell :( who can supply me with a paycheck of such a card? :( http://shrimptalk.spelletjesgarnaal....threadid=48471 |
hmmm pretty dumb move there teus. |

gonna RMA the card. it's still under warranty, but the idiot that sold it to my brother doesn't have the paycheck anymore. gonna ask gainward.de if they can RMA it without paycheck, I'll try to find out where the card was bought. or I'll just pay a visit to the HW shop where my dad is one of the most important clients they wanted to give warranty from a stick of PC133 mem, without any proof it was bought there. It was the problem of single/doublesided memory, but I thought it was broken because only 1/2 of the mem was detected; even on my dad's P3 they've ordered doublesided memory for me, going there tomorrow to swap it... and it won't cost me a thing let's hope I can arrange something, a friend from germany RMA'ed his GF2 recently and got a GF4MX golden sample! |

some folks already spilled water on their hardware due to watercooling. placing the card in water and have it heated up for 20 seconds wouldn't be SO bad. after all the heat wouldn't damage anything, it's rather harmful to have a hot card when it's powered on. ah well. first thing tomorrow: PC Dewilde. the memory of that guy is leak, I often buy something there and he's very friendly. he already RMA'ed a dead 1700+ that actually isn't covered by warranty I think. next stop: GSI Informatix, dad's PC shop. they might arrange something ;) |
there a big difference between cold water spilling over hardware and then letting it dry for an extended period of time, and putting a piece of hardware in water and then boiling it.. |
no no; when the water was near boiling point I put the card in it for 20seconds hmm, my bro' bought the card at telent bargains. I'll contact [HBV]-=XortioN=- now |
"near boiling point" = near 100°C, is way too hot, even if it was for 1 second. are you going to ask your money back from the card, after you boiled it in a frying pan? no more drugs for you TeuS! :^D |
gonna ask a new card; no visible damage and I don't do drugs ;) bloody hell, that card appears to be third handed. joy joy :( van wie kocht je die? .4-^CaroluS^-[C-C ForeveR]- -(Love Charlotje so much = She is the one for me)- 12 [Tomb raider movie/game 0wnz0r] =~- says: ik weet da nimeer gotta hate those stupid n00bs and their nicks that are way too long. he even doens't remember from who he bought it |

that's the smoke of the boiling water. cleaned everything up and placed original cooler on it. no traces :gay: |
this internet thread is the trace and visible fact that your card has been tampered with... |
