Performance OF Everquest2 With a LGA 775 P4 3.0GHZ

I have a LGA 775 540 P4 3.0GHZ processor and 1GB of RAM and a x800XT with almost all details set on low with the result being a subpar 17fps at max and 4 fps at the least. I mean come on this does not make no sense at all... So i conducted a test with the processor oczed to 3.7GHZ and put it with a low end x300SE 128MB video card. And what happened next make me go "WT*!!!"
Fps were 37 at max and 19 at the minimum with setting on low. I mean come on, i thought games are suppose to be more VPU intensive than CPU intensive. And plus a 3GHZ CPU is pretty efficient dont you guys think?

So hey guys. If any one of you have Everquest2. Please tell me how your performance is with the type of system you have it operating it on. And if you have tips on the settings that would improve game play thanks in advance.
