Thing is, tbreb b goes much higher than 2000mhz, 2300-2400 is a fairly typical overclock with the right dlt3c. so that 3200 of your p4 is suddenly not that much (if any) faster anymore for more than double the price That's what I would call bang for the buck. |
... but the AMD cpu's still lack those little, but quite handy assets such as described above >> hyperthreading, quad-pumped 200MHz FSB ... it's about to show it's nature ... |

so that 2.4 of your AMD is suddenly... :p |
intell made quite a good cpu with their "c" and amd is getting behind because of that, but with the a64 it will kick intell's *** and another thing, i would like te see some benches between an p4 3.0 ghz and an amd 3.0 ghz ( the amd is cooled with an prome and reaches 2995 mhz -> laurens ) i'll bet it will kick *** and that is an chip of what 60? 70 €? so and what costs an p4 3.0 or lets even say an 2.4 conclusion: you can't compare the 2 greetz |
with the same prommy setup that P4 will reach 4+ghz and still blow the AMD away :* |
Just look at the facts. If you got the bucks, get a good P4 system. It's the fastest around ATM. If you're on budget, don't even think about it. |
we were talking about value, how come this suddenly turned to plain fastness. and i don't think that the p4 @ 4ghz can touch an A64 @ 3ghz |
well, a proc doing 2600MHz and more (freakin instable psu?) for 63 € is a good bang for the buck:^D |

but i was talking about an comparison between an p4 3.0 and an AMD @ 3.0 :* anyway this is an discussion with no ending greetz |

etc etc :) @ 3ghz comparison: it is an old fact that the AMD does more calculations per cpu cycle.. |
