New WC coming in

As I've been working this week i am going to get myself a present.

I am updating my old case en wc setup which was posted here

I ordered:

- A case called aerocool Masstige to replace my Aopen H600B
- A PSU from Seasonic 600W to replace my LC-Power 550W
- A MCP 655 swiftech pump to replace my eheim 1048
- Nexxxus dual extreme rad + grill instead of my heavy tractor rad.
- A swiftech storm block instead of my zern pq +, a copple of sharp razor blades for popping of the ihs.
- Maze 4 for my x800gto² thats heating up my chipset fan so everything in my comp will be quiet again.
- A plexi res for in my drive bay.
- And finally a nec DVDRW 4550 + logitech ultra flat keyboard.

What came in already was my case + radiator from caseking.de.

I'll update soon when all the package fits in my case and maybe i find some spare time to make a little boing.

aerocool looks like another copy from Coolermaster's Stacker

187(V)URD@ 28th December 2005 15:52

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...56&postcount=1

I had a choice between those 3 cases and I found the aplus less good for mounting a wc setup.
The choice was between Coolermaster and Aerocool. I found a coolermaster stacker for 123€ but it was a silvercase so I took the masstige for only 79€ and I like the design and its good for placing a wc setup and you get 2*120mm fans included. The design for airflow of the airocool is perfect imo. But they should had to make a bigtower version of the masstige. That would be perfect.

I'll see how my wc setup turns out and if i am not happy with the case .. I always can buy a stacker. ;)

Gothrek 28th December 2005 22:55

Nothing can beat a Coolermaster stacker wiht a cross flow fan imo

(not true, but its a powerfull combo for me)

jmke 28th December 2005 22:57

that "cross flow" fan (the radial one) is worth.. nothing really, radial fans have been proven to have a very lousy noise/cfm ratio.

Gothrek 28th December 2005 23:00

dont know what radial is
but i can tell you my memory is at least 5°C colder same for northbridge

i thought it had 130CFM at max

i can move a lot of air

edit// it can move 46CFM the specs say, but it certainly doesnt feel like that

the litlle paper in the box tells 130 cubic an hour

what to believe??

piotke 28th December 2005 23:16

46 CFM = 130 m²/h

Gothrek 28th December 2005 23:19

ha, damn, i confused the numbers then

what does CFM mean again, i thougt i meant cubic meters an hour (now that seems completely onlogic)

piotke 28th December 2005 23:29

A rating that expresses the amount of air a blower or fan can move. The volume of air (measured in cubic feet) that can pass through an opening in one minute.

Gothrek 28th December 2005 23:33

thx, now i finally know that abrev..

afkorting

jmke 28th December 2005 23:59

just so we know that we're on the same page, http://www.atruereview.com/cm_stacker/index.php

Cross FloW fan specs by Cooler master

45CFM rated at 38dBA

their own 120mm fan rated at 16dBA @ 1200rpm which is the same speed my Papst is running; the Papst 120mm pushes 40CFM

now I don't need to tell you how much a difference 16<>38dBA IS? both are rated by Coolermaster; in short; it's HELLA LOUD, and does not move a lot of air. 2 silent 120mm fans move DOUBLE the air

5°C off the chipset temperature is not quite worth the noise; does it decrease CPU temp?

Gothrek 29th December 2005 09:24

you can put it at medium, so you hear it a bit, the biggest noise is that of my chipset
i am searching for some heatpipe solution for that like the new abit-boards

jmke, it sure feels like a lot more then 45CFM, it has a great impact on my ram/chipset cooling
altough it was quite expensive
but i like it, imo its worth the cost, mem doesnt get that hot anymore

i dont know about cpu-temp, will test it when i got the temp-sensors from piotke + big typhoon + new graphic card (i dont have one atm)

187(V)URD@ 29th December 2005 11:50

2*120mm aerocool :

RPM 1500rpm
Air Flow 59.12cfm
Noise Level 29.58dba

2*120mm papst 4412 FGL:

Vitesse de rotation : 1600 RPM
Ventilation : 55,3 CFM
Niveau Sonore : 26 db(A)

I don't think i've to worry about noise :)

FreeStyler 1st January 2006 17:15

a crossflow fn doesn't exhause rotating air, that might help giving a more direct airflow.

187(V)URD@ 2nd January 2006 17:29

My keyboard

End of this week I should be getting the rest of my watersetup.
Still don't know if i am going to use silicone tubing or dangerden tubes.
Also ordered a x2 3800+, dfi ultra-d , 7800gt for a friend which i can test for a few days.

jmke 2nd January 2006 17:52

my keyboard:

187(V)URD@ 2nd January 2006 18:03

Bit to expensive for me :)

Perhaps, we could compare OCing/performance with my newly yet to arrive Opteron 165;)

Your water cool versus my cheap air cooling.

Yes we could, got boxed aircooling and 2 watersetups.
But you got 2mb cache so you get better results on stock.
Got also a opteron 146 which i can compare with.

I test with regular Win XP pro + sp2. (superpi - 3d01-03-05 - sisoft and maybe some more)

jmke 2nd January 2006 19:56

let the games begin!

only CPU dependant benchmarks (of course) as you don't have the same video cards!

Sidney 2nd January 2006 20:40

SsuperPI; Sandra memory; CPU temp; DVD burn; etc.

Jmke will come up with what/how to compare; we will provide data and photos ;)

jmke 2nd January 2006 20:41

DVDShrink from HDD would be cool, but requires same memory (+/-) :)

Sidney 2nd January 2006 20:51

DVDShrink; must use the same Movie title:)

Give us three or four choices and see if we both have them.

Snip:
Two guys with one generation and thousand of miles apart in age and distance; comparing a few notes in a game that has no age nor boundary ...... getting the best value CPU performance.:)

One believes in liguid cooling, the other just uses air around. You decide which one is you.:D

jort 2nd January 2006 21:39

mhh i care about liquid cooling too but another liquid then water:D

ln² :p

187(V)URD@ 3rd January 2006 06:26

Well liquid cooling doesn't give such a big advantage anymore with the A64 IHS. I am quiet sure my storm(75€) block would perform the same as my zern pq + (39€). Without IHS and a decent pump the storm would be superior vs my zern.

But my old liquid cooling is 2 years old and only cost me rad for 25€,pump for 40€ and cpu block (less then 40€). Good investment for 2 years of quiet cooling :).

My friend will buy it for me including my case and psu for 150€.

But i am happy with my recent cpu's I bought. (XP 2400+@2.4ghz-1.65V ; XP-M 2500+@2.5ghz-1.65V ; XP-M 2600+@2.6ghz-1.65V ; A64 3000+@2.7ghz - stock vcore ; Opteron 146@2.8ghz stock vcore but currently at 3ghz)

So basicly all budget cpu's from 75€-146€, only my xp 2400+ was 220€ when i bought it. Stock vcore oc'ing is fun :p
Lets hope my friend gets a good stepping & IHS so i can keep up with lazy's opty :)

187(V)URD@ 7th January 2006 23:58

Bah I ordered & payed my stuff 25th dec and still didn't receive anything.
One shop(.nl) has vacation till 9th january :o. The other german shop where I never ordered anything still hasn't send or replyed to my mails. Better payed an extra 10€ where is was sure of the shops service.
Lets hope I know more next monday.

I recently bought some fittings for my rad (1/4" / 13mm for tube) and some silicone tubing. I love silicone tubing, you can bend it everywhere without damaging the hose or get kinks in it.
But I also ordered Dangerden UV tubing and will test that also.

Keep you updated.

187(V)URD@ 11th January 2006 23:05

So my wc set came in today as well the x2 3800+ setup. The minor hold up is that my PSU still didn't arrive.
Blame anekado for that, First time I ordered there and also the last time.

At the moment I am testing my wc loops for waterfittings. But I know i don't have a fit but too bad i don't have a spare psu to hook up my setup.

Going to hook up the x2 3800+ setup with my HD so i can still work :)

EDIT: Sunday a few pics.
EDIT2: 26°C Idle for x2 3800+ :D (start ocing)

187(V)URD@ 12th January 2006 22:14

X2 3800+ Idle at 20°C at stock. Thats 13°C lower then my 3ghz opteron at idle :)

jmke 12th January 2006 22:25

idle speeds mean nothing, load is everything. Sprite!

Did a quick s&m on the cpu(fpu) with 2.6ghz at 1.55bios or 1.5V cpu-z.
Load temp was 35°C on a passive WC(fanless setup :))

EDIT: Dual prime only 28-30°C

jmke 12th January 2006 23:28

s&m supports 2 CPU
prime95 is average ok for CPU temp

try K7Burn instead.. twice.. I think it will surpass S&M
www.madshrimps.be/files/mirrors/K7burn.rar

187(V)URD@ 12th January 2006 23:45

The same because my Delta temp remains the same.
My water is now a bit hotter because of stressing the cpu's for 2 hours.
My idle is now 30°C because of the passive setup and stress with K7Burn was 41°C with the same voltage and frequentie settings.

Pfft I'd better reapplyed my previous wc on my opteron, who knows I didn't had to order a new wc setup :p

jmke 12th January 2006 23:49

dont the "who knows" in that last sentance;)

Sidney 12th January 2006 23:58

187(V)URD@,
What MB do you use? And, will you post PWM temp.
I am getting over 65°C PWM temp at 1.55volt.

187(V)URD@ 13th January 2006 00:35

DFI Ultra-D but I am getting also +60°C with full load and no fans.
My other setup does about 38-42°C with fan on it.

x2 2.6ghz - 7800gt 450/1120mhz

Sidney 13th January 2006 02:27

Single core is entirely different; mine with CV+ memory fan on the PMWIC it was about the same as yours.

Unless no vcore increase or less than 1.4V, Dual Core 1x2MB will put alot on the motherboard circuit. I hope the DFI Expert may solve this issue. For now, the limit will be on the PWM temp over CPU temp.

187(V)URD@ 13th January 2006 11:10

The PMW can take a beating ;). I wouldn't be suprised if it hits 80°C in the summer but active cooling wouldn't harm ;).

Btw what graca do you got?

jmke 13th January 2006 11:32

80°C is in my humble opinion too hot for PWM is you are overclocking, would not surprise it at all if you see random crashes at that PWM temp and you have to lower your OC

Sidney 13th January 2006 14:36

I am not a gamer;), using 6200 still and satisfied with the FPS, soft modded to 6600. Using latest driver it is called 6700XL.

jmke 13th January 2006 14:41

new product from NV?
