I though there were only opteron 144 that been tested there.. The ones with cabge stepping. Did not yet see the 146 with cabge stepping. So does anybody knows how it performs ? |
2 146 are tested, it's the same stepping than 144 so the same ocing :) |
Aww...that is just sucky.:puke: |

My Opteron 146: 2779 Mhz vcore 1,55(max) Stressed temp 43° :p Zalman 9500 cooler I'm happy with the result :p i almost bought a A64 4000+ for 350€ This Opteron performs the same and its 206€ :super: |
Hi, I have just received 60 Opteron 144 CABNE 0540 APMW ! First look, not very good for CABNE : 2.85 GHz @ 1.6V stable with my WC. However, CABNE are special about RAM setting, I will test later ! Now, I make dispatch and logistic. |
Yeah pls let me know soon, how they perform! Thanks |
Oh and pls post pic of all 60 of them :super: |
I'm very interested in buying one. Please let us know the results. Do you also have opteron 146 cabne en oc results? See Pm. |
Shipping by the Post :Shipping today Shipping by UPS : Tomorrow Look your email box :) Info Stock : 23 Opteron CABNE 0540 APMW and 5 Opteron 146 CABGE 0536 VPAW avalaible ! |
And how about results  Thank you for keeping me waiting smsa I'll be getting a nice chip after all.... |
Come on post some results. We are waiting  And I'm waiting to order one when the results are good. |
Thx hopefully it will arrive soon. Very eager to test this thing :) |
Since that the A64 3000+ is discoutuned from AMD, Opteron S939 are now more intersting ! |
he's referring to this for our English/Dutch readers;) |
lol thanks :D |

Np after reading it ten times i did !! understood it. Had some french at school :D Never knew that would come in handy :^D |
I have found time for me, my CABNE 0540 APMW is in socket ! I will test the max stable @ 1.4V this evening, the rest tomorrow. |
Can somebody give me a reason to buy an Opteron? I've got the "upgrade-blues" :p My current CPU is a Venice 3500+ and I'm able to run it at 245 x 11 (2695MHz) 1:1 with my memory @ 2-2-2-5. I don't think an Opteron is much faster then a Venice? So it's not a wise decision to upgrade then? |
clock for clock it won't be faster except for a few rare occassion with workstation related software. I would not "upgrade" your CPU at all, that A64 @ 2.7ghz will last you at least another year (to be honest.. it will last you 5 without problem) |
I know it's fast enough. For 24/7 use, the CPU does it job @ stock speeds with Cool'n'Quiet enabled :D It's only overlocked for benchmarks or very heavy gaming. The only problem is that the CPU needs a lot of voltage to get higher then 2700 MHz. It's like some kind of virtual wall :) But you are right, it's fast enough. I didn't know if an Opteron was faster or not. But the upgrade-virus is still raging inside me :) |
maybe you want to spend that money on better soundcard? or speakers (4.1/5.1?). I promise you that if you haven't seen DVD or played games in 5.1 you are missing out; more than that 100Mhz difference in CPU speed. for games you are GPU limited much quicker than CPU, that extra CPU power (2800 vs 2600) will be no good if you have 6600GT :), and even with NV7800GTX you'll see no big difference. if you want to enjoy games more by making the experience richer, CPU is not the first thing to look at (if you already have a fast one A64 2+ghz) I'm not Contra OC, or Contra Opteron; I'm Pro best value for money and best PC experience :) |
You can sell your 3500+ for a better price that you can by 144 ! So, you win money and MHZ ... Sorry that I'm the seller, but if I'm you, I buy a 144. No upgrade a bad expensive CPU by a good cheaper CPU is idiot ! |
new price of A64 S939 3500+ is ~€200 , selling it 2nd hand will not give you more than €150 (if you are lucky), add transport, install/reinstall, extra testing, lost time and hassle; and you'll be on the losing end by swithing CPU. :) |
My PC is in the living room so it's a bit of waste to spend much money on a good 5.1 set if I use my headphones most of the time. I still have a 4.1 set somewhere of Cambridge SoundWorks (Creative). I bought it 6 years ago together with a Diamond MX300, the best surround soundcard I ever had because it supported Aureal's A3D. And A3D was better (and still is) then Creative's EAX. Half Life was one of the games that supported A3D and that was an unbelievable experience. I heard where players were, I heard it much better, much more "real" then somebody with exact the same setup but with a SB Live! And that was a big advantage ;) And I know a 6600GT isn't the best there is but it's good value for money. :) Maybe I'll buy an X800 GTO² and flash it to an X850XT PE. Or I can buy a good TFT (although my 19" CRT is still doing fine). Or maybe I'll just shut up because I'm going waaaay off-topic here. Back on-topic: This german guy has a CABGE 0536 VPAW http://www.forumdeluxx.de/forum/show...4&postcount=32 |
We use processor totally for another purpose nowadays; or at some places for some people...... benchmarking. If bench marking earns you a title that makes you proud of your ability; accomplishment; knowledge in the contribution to education, defense, reduction of ozone, increase air quality, reduce waste, improve productivity etc etc, go for it. I feel bad using a Venice 3000+ running 24/7 @2.7Ghz returning 31-32 second SuperPI and find myself so damn shallow in computing technology that from what I know, a PII Celeron is more than adequate. The little and occasional use of Autodesk Inventor could easily be done with P4 2GHz which overclocked to 3.2GHz with ease and without any heat problem using 1st generation stock HSF. 1.2Ghz or 60% overclock with slight increase in voltage that's overclocking. But, I don't expect I can find such a processor on a quarterly basis, neither will I spend my life looking for one.:) |
CPU burned 1h @ 55 °C (9*230 @ 1.17V) and 8h @ 2.79 GHz @ 1.49V No time for test it this morning :( |

CABNE 0540 APMW 2.88 GHz (9*320) @ 1.47V -> Errors after 20min of Prime 95 Small FFT's, so stable for few hours @ 2.871 GHz (9*319). I will test more in few times, need time ! only 24h/day :( |
Nice clocking smsa! Especially the pretty low volts...since i have seen the CABGE :D 1.9 :P rofl Anyway congrats! Will test mine later this...don't have time either. |
Hi all ! I have a Fedex account since today, look http://home.scarlet.be/~pascpiet/DV/...glish/FDP.html for all shipping free ! Fedex are very intersting for few EU country and US and Canada. |
