custom waterblocks

I lost my holiday job, so I'm going to make custom waterblocks for others to get some money. custom blocks are well performing, though they've got a higher restriction then others and aren't that good-looking either. they're made of full copper

* CPU block:
both AMD and P4. I make them the same way others do, and they outperform most commercial waterblock

supplied with springs, bolts and nuts. 80*50mm

* Vidcard/chipset block:
they have to be attached using a retention mechanism. see http://users.pandora.be/deschildre/m...g/PIC00059.jpg

40*40mm

* mosfet/memory blocks
no pic available
they're actually small chipset blocks with a lower restriction. they can be glued to the chips, but I can work something out so you don't have to epoxy them (read: don't have to void your warranty)

I'm not giving a lot of information here, I know. People that are interested, please leave a message here with your e-mail adres (preferrably MSN messenger account)

the blocks will be ready in appr. 2-6 weeks, that depends. details and pricing will be arranged with the buyer as I'm not talking about mass-production here :)

Gamer 16th August 2003 20:08

nice.

just want some pics of that memcooling, and I'm in.

Gamer 16th August 2003 20:10

if they look like this :

TeuS 16th August 2003 20:13

I'm able to let make such blocks, but I'll have to go to a craftsman that's got such a CNC machine. it'll be pricier then my homemade blocks

Belgian_Dude 18th August 2003 11:27

How much would you want for a AMD CPU-block plus a GF-3 block plus a Chipset block? Oh, and please mention apart pricings :)

I'd maybe pull my lil' bro into WC if this ain't to expensive :) Lemme know plz :)

Where are you from?

I'll offer you the following lowcost blocks
chipset and vidcard blocks are no problem, I ask 75€ for both. a CPU block is I ask 50€ a piece.

my blocks are cheaper (you'll save 50€) then the commercial blocks and perform better. keep in mind I'm not going to mass-produce them!

It's 125€ then for the three blocks, but I can also trade them for hardware if you want to (PM what you've got spare)

Untouchable 18th August 2003 12:19

if you make something like the link Gamer posted, count me in too

nop. my copper bars aren't big enough and I don't have a CNC machine

I DO make those memory blocks, but they just don't look as fancy as those other.

ZaVkE 19th August 2003 18:27

Can i see a pic of the inside of your CPU-block?

jmke 19th August 2003 18:41

more info

ZaVkE 19th August 2003 18:48

That'll be the chipsetblock :)

And the cpu-block?

Because im planning on using a eheim 1060 (2250l/h) and i don't want it to break under the pressure

TeuS 19th August 2003 19:11

something like this:

my blocks are quit restrictive, but I don't think that would harm your pump :)

Da_BoKa 20th August 2003 08:54

i tought that thy have a high flow with al lot of turbelence

( i have the same block )

greetz

The pump isn't what i'm worrying about, its more the block itself.
I'm afraid that due to the high pressure it would start to leak or crack.

piotke 20th August 2003 18:01

copper is a metal, that doesn't 'crack' that simple ..

TeuS 20th August 2003 18:09

oh no. it's sealed up very well using silicones. I tried to open up mine a few days ago, had to clamp it on my workbench and use a big C clamp to rip the top off the base :)

TeuS 20th August 2003 20:59

second chipset/gpu block, coming straight from the workbench. paid more attention to the looks this time :)

Scyver 21st August 2003 01:00

any idea of prices, quite interested...

TeuS 21st August 2003 01:07

75€ for 2 chipset/GPU blocks, 45€ for one
CPU: 50€
memory blocks: 75€ for a set of 4 blocks (each one covers 2 memory banks!), 45€ for 2

Nice, I'll think it over

piotke 21st August 2003 06:09

die chipsetblok die e gemakt hebt eh, nu die randen dichsolderen en gelijkschuren/lopen, oogt eens zo mooi, en niet zo veel werk...

hoe groot is die basis ?

dat weet ik ffs ook wel
basis is 40*40, is vermeld

TeuS 24th August 2003 15:02

okay people, confirm please!

Untouchable 24th August 2003 15:05

pics of memory blocks ?

TeuS 24th August 2003 15:18

no, they are just smaller chipset/GPU blocks...
just imagine a block that's about 2cm wide and 4cm long :)

the blocks can be supplied with a top plate, and the two blocks have to be attached to the top plate. that way, the blocks can be attached to the PCB with regular thermal paste (no adhesive)

check attach to have an idea of it. but hey, these blocks are custom. I'll contact the buyers for more info (what vidcard, mounting holes,...) so that the memblocks will fit

TeuS 24th August 2003 15:46

I'll make two sets of memory blocks and two CPU blocks. I'll let others test them, and show them how they work/perform

Then, you can buy the blocks I've got spare OR or order your blocks (takes a few weeks)

Scyver 25th August 2003 09:41

yep still interested but first things first.

Need new rad and fans etc

Hope to see those test online and off course with a stunning result

Untouchable 25th August 2003 10:43

Teus: if you can design those memory blocks with 1/2" fittings and suited for radeon 9800 pro then I'm very interested

add me @MSN or mail: teus@madshrimps.be

1/2" is possible, but the blocks will have to be quite big then

tip :
if it's supposed to NEVER open again => LOCK-TITE is what you need ;) It comes in different tubes/variations, and is mostly colored deep blue. Mechanics use it all the time.
Better than any silicone, and guaranteed leakfree ;)

[dutch]Om die koppelstukken te bevestigen op het blok, smeren ze ook eerst de schroefdraad in daarmee, komt nooit meer los/lekt nooit ;) [/dutch]

TeuS 25th August 2003 16:07

I use silicone so I can open up my block if needed
thx for the advise though!

glenn 27th August 2003 17:55

Could you make a custom GF FX block for use with the four mountingholes around the core?

Should be about 5.5*5.5 with M2 holes 48mm apart from the center.
If yes, how much?

it's possible with the brackets I make. they don't look good, but they fit about everything.

they cost 45€ a piece: sanded, polished and guaranteed leak-proof. what fittings do you want?

But it wouldn't be possible to make the base 5.5*5.5 with the M2 mounting point in the corners?

TeuS 28th August 2003 17:24

sorry, my copper is only 5cm wide :(

but I might epoxy a bigger copperplate (2mm thick) under the waterblock, with holes in it :)

glenn 28th August 2003 17:34

I'll look around a bit more, wil get back to you if I can't find something that fits my needs. :)

TeuS 4th September 2003 21:13

finished blocks

Today I've shipped piotke's block, an urgent order (it has to arrive tomorrow). it's lapped, but not polished up (takes quite some time).

it's optimized for peltier usage, let's hope Piotke likes my block:)

piotke 4th September 2003 21:16

and the best of all, i got it for free :)

Spider 9th September 2003 18:27

do they prefom better than a maze 4?
