I assume you are using Windows 2000/XP? go to device manager (my computer -> properties -> hardware) open the branch "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" double click "secondary IDE channel" assuming that your drives are connected to the secondary IDE connector on the motherboard click on "advanced settings" in the new properties tab that has appeared. What is written next to "current transfer mode" of Device 0 ? |
primair IDE: DMA if available @ 0 & 1 Ultra - mode 6 secundairy IDE: DMA if available @ 0 & 1 Ultra - mode 2 |
in bios it says: Secundairy master: (my Writer's name) Pio: 4 DMA: 2 Secundairy slave: (my DVD's name) Pio: 4 DMA: 2 |
hmm Ultra mode 2 is good set it to "automatic" in the BIOS if possible! |
