crashes in internet explorer

I get crashes in internet explorer while surfing, everything freezes necessitating reboot, mostly with 'complicated' sites with flash and such.

folding is stable, as is gaming, and everything else.

what could be the problem?

easypanic 12th March 2005 20:12

Did you try uninstalling the flash player?

Sidney 12th March 2005 20:29

I have had similar situation last year, only occasionally.

After I upgraded to SP2 and with all the updates the problem has not shown in all 7 systems since.

Bosw8er 12th March 2005 21:10

All IE crashes i had where memory-related.
Maybe it's a good day to switch to a decent browser.

as EasyP said, uninstall & reinstall flash (shockwave ?)

maybe give an example of which site causes the crash, ... remember some viewers are < 16 years !!!!

Stone 13th March 2005 03:10

Call me wierd... I'm running several browsers, none of which are IE. I use Firefox for my default, but use Maxthon for my updates, and use Netscape 7.2 and the new 8.0 Beta for fun. I will also use Slimbrowser for those times that Maxthon is being stupid. And, for those interested... I'm also running a gig of PC2500 (well, overclocked PC2100 :)) for any RAM problems. :D

The Senile Doctor 13th March 2005 07:12

it happened while browsing bmw.be, the movie for the new m6, but it has happened on about 100 occasions before

http://www.bmw.com/generic/com/en/pr...dex_popup.html
on this one, I click OK, and the further clicks, it always crashes...

Sidney 13th March 2005 07:33

No problem here ;) watching it now ... the M6 is in RED.

The Senile Doctor 13th March 2005 07:36

(one of the 2006 options :) )

weird friggin thing, popped up some weeks ago :(

Sidney 13th March 2005 07:40

507 HP holy sh_t....

4.6 Seconds 0-100km/h

That's as fast as riding my bike.;)

Or, forever 2.2 second behind in my 280Z.

The Senile Doctor 13th March 2005 07:48

the m6 is an option, so is the future carrera 4s, the maserati Gransport, the carrera turbo 2006, the aston martin vantage V8, and that's about it, I really need a sportscoupé, preferably 4-seater, not too large. don't like the japs too much, don't like audi, nor mercedes
Still prefer the porsches though. Dependability is assured with porsche

//offtopik, what the **** crashes my IE/firefox?

Vulk 13th March 2005 08:57

What about s60r? ;)

The Senile Doctor 13th March 2005 09:52

that does NOT fit in with turbo/amv8/maserati... :)

easypanic 13th March 2005 09:55

What versions of IE and Flash Player?

The Senile Doctor 13th March 2005 10:09

IE 6.0.2900.2180
not only flash, other crashes too

firefox latest version too

easypanic 13th March 2005 10:14

Did you try the "repair IE" thingie?

The Senile Doctor 13th March 2005 10:15

yes, it is the same thing with firefox, so can it be a IE related problem?

the maniak 13th March 2005 11:39

maybe clean out your temporary internet files, scan on spyware.... u never know

The Senile Doctor 13th March 2005 11:42

I do that weekly, and three times since this crap started

most likely Flash/Macromedia; try to reinstall that.

like Bosw8er said. and EasyP.

btw; you say you don't like Audi; but wouldn't this car be kick-***? 0-100 in 5.2 sec. only marginly slower then the M6, and it has much more room and style:)

SuAside 8th April 2005 09:45

[rant]

Looking at it funny is capable of crashing IE

[/rant]

Except the 'not too large' part :)

jmke 8th April 2005 13:29

if you drive against a wall quick enough it will become quite "the mini" ;)

Sharpside 8th April 2005 13:56

If you want class and sportivety mixed in a car check out TVR ;)
http://www.tvr-eng.co.uk/

The Senile Doctor 8th April 2005 14:11

look, an a8 is an old man's car, I need a 2+2, two normal front seats and two miniseats, no friggin limo like my dad's Jag where I can't use 90% of the space.

TVR looks specials but is less reliable, and I need reliability above all.
Plus the looks are too weird...

btw, the firefox still craps out, so does my outlook express

jmke 8th April 2005 14:26

overclock less:p

The Senile Doctor 8th April 2005 14:59

it's at 2800 (14*200, ram is corsair designed for 200 2-2-2-5 @ 2-2-2-10)
cpu has been proven stable until 3000

even at 9*200 it still craps out on me.

Reinstall will do the trick..

Bosw8er 8th April 2005 15:22

try running ccleaner and easycleaner, one after the other

Gamer 9th April 2005 17:42

you still use your lightspeed ?

The Senile Doctor 9th April 2005 18:37

yes.
why?

Gamer 9th April 2005 18:50

2800 mhz :p

The Senile Doctor 9th April 2005 18:51

yes, tuned it to 2800 to be sure there was no possibility of hardware overload whatsoever :)
