T-Bred: max temp/voltage

I want my machine folding 24/7 (when I've got that slk800)

how many Volt may I give my CPU then maximum to make it last?
same for the temp!

It's a 1700+ T-bred
now @ 10*185 with 1.81 Vcore

(same question for Vulkaantje's 1800+ AGOIA btw)

RichBa5tard 6th January 2003 12:43

1.85v & <50°C = ok

Gamer 6th January 2003 18:00

good voltage = max 1.85 vcore.
if your temps go higher than 50° you will have a BSOD :)

good luck.

thx
I'll get an SLK800 in 2 weeks (when colorcase is back open)

with 1.86 vcore and my v7+ at high RPM, I managed @ a LAN to reach 1900 mhz; it was stable but I didn't stress test it though

1850 now with fan at medium RPM, otherwise my mom can't bear it :D

piotke 6th January 2003 18:07

I also have a Vcore question, how high can I set this with a palomino XP ?

2.1 ? Watercooled

jmke 6th January 2003 18:12

temps are pretty important too :)

piotke 6th January 2003 18:16

under 50°

jmke 6th January 2003 18:50

pretty cool then
although personally I wouldn't pass 2v for long periods

I got a tbredA on air here with close to 2v & running fine, but I don't have to try much higher ;)

dont mind the temps, they are fuxored, all the temps are CPU temp :)

Gamer 6th January 2003 19:23

piotke 6th January 2003 19:42

Maybe moederboerdje niet goed genoeg ofwel voeding like I said.

MSI k7t 266 Pro2
Voeding is cheapo 300 watt

jmke 7th January 2003 08:57

cpu niet goed genoeg in my humble opinion :)

Vulk 8th January 2003 06:38

Hmz, nu krijg'k mijnen 1800+ palomino op 1725 primestable @1.85Vcore, stressed 43°. Hoe hoog zou'k ongeveer geraken met 1.95Vcore?

Gamer 8th January 2003 18:46

trial and error ?
:p

temps not above 50° = BS
I have one running at as high as 55°C mean on the die, rocketing stable, not one error priming 24+ hours, nor cpustab 24+ hours, nor folding for one straight week now
socket doing 40°C
that is at 1.76 volts

you guys are measuring socket temps with those high voltages... I think...

nope it is full of truth, HARD truth even :)

I have this XP2200+ running @ 2030Mhz with 1.87v
due to the f*cked up KX7 holes around the socket, the heatsink is not rightly attached

this translates in higher temps then normal

so..

the KX7 on the table, CPU running @ 45°C (room temp 23°C)
stable as hell, not 1 crash

moved it into a case , the case has 1 exchaust fan.. so I thought it was ok...

thought wrong, CPU temp soon hit 50+ & PC hung

opened the side panel & placed an extra 80mm FAN, loaded temps are now ~40°C

yesterday I came home to find the PC locked up.
I went to the case in "my other room ;)" I found that my mom had shoved the case right next my XP1800+ system, hereby cutting of access to free air..
moved the case back & system back up & running :)

I experienced this many times before, more with AMD system then with INTEL...
Of course there are expections (hey we live in a world of rules & 1000 expections) , so your experience @ 55°C is quite normal

but don't bullshit a bullshitter about CPU temps & crashing :)
leave you with pic of the case as it is now ->

The Senile Doctor 24th January 2003 21:35

mine never crashes at 51-55°C
yours probably crashes at socket temp 50° meaning 65 or more ° die temp :)

jmke 24th January 2003 21:37

Afaik KX7 supports on-die temp reading... using Winbond HW monitor

IF cpu temp > 50°C = crash :)

The Senile Doctor 24th January 2003 21:44

grmbl

then how come I have 100% stability @ 55°C

The Senile Doctor 24th January 2003 21:44

mbm

my cpu rocks, yours doesn't :) ;)

jmke 24th January 2003 21:47

I spend €75 on mine and it's only running 53mhz slower then yours ;p

in cost/mhz, your CPU is taken a HELL of a beating :spank:

+ learn to CROP for god's sake calantak (did it now for you, but next time it won't be for free ;) )

PaintShopPro = shareware + easy downloadable + easy useable (my father knows how to work with it...)

The Senile Doctor 24th January 2003 21:48

you win.
just ordered ten 1800+'s from funcomputer.
time to fold yer asses off, and kil ddtung in the process.

I double dare you

The Senile Doctor 24th January 2003 22:02

I'll include a comparative review of 7 coolers and it's all on nforce2

jmke 24th January 2003 22:04

that's a screenie of your wishlist ;p

I need confirmation baby :p

wait til I live alone

jmke 24th January 2003 22:43

we can go live together and have the biggest folding farm in Europe

StaRflaM 2nd February 2003 15:07

hello,

i want to know how far i can go with my 1800+ palomino @ 2000+
is he 39° idle
its twinmoss pc2700ramm

jmke 2nd February 2003 15:19

trial and error is the only way :)

unlock your CPU, that way you can find both the limit of the RAM & CPU

to find the limit of the CPU, raise the multiplier & up the FSB 1mhz at a time

to find the limit of the RAM, drop the multiplier & up the FSB 2-3mhz at a time

good luck

StaRflaM 2nd February 2003 15:22

****,
kunde int nederlands zegge :p

StaRflaM 2nd February 2003 15:36

em sta nu aan 1.75v en 43° aan 1.7ghz

jmke 2nd February 2003 15:44

that's already pretty high temperature

I have to keep my CPU temp <40°C to have my XP2200+ stable @ 2030Mhz with only 1.85v

if I put more through it (+2v) temp rises easily up to 50°C

ps: these forums are internationally aimed, therefore most of the threads you'll find here will be in english. it's a good learning school for dutch speaking people to improve their knowledge :)
