Mini epia config the parts: |
A little bit later: |
Grafic LCD in the front: still has to be soldered and cut out in the front panel |
Next to his big brother |
That's all for today. Cutting the wood and "afschuren" it in my room wasn't such a good idea. In the bottom of the case: laptop DVD rom, ultra thin, than, on top af that the 10 gig seagate from an Xbox, then the epia mobo and the stripped psu on top. in the left and the right panel an 80 mm fan, 5V unhearable. in front: * DVD * LCD * POwer/HDD led (blue) * 2 USB ports ==> anybody an Idea on how to make the power button ? current dimensions: front 18*18 cm, and 21 cm deep |
nice. watch out with the PSU, a PSU with only the bottom already killed an entire setup here :/ btw, don't forget about EMI and grounding! |

In installed windows with the PSU passive cooled, the mosfet heatsinks get warm, but not hot, so with a little ariflow... |
psu housing with ground of your house |
if you have the money, buy a 60W psu for the epia, sure thats enough for 1hd,epia and an optical drive. It will save you alota space |
ask evangeliz, perhaps he's got a PSU that can be used |
The soon to be announced new Epia's have a 5V interface (like laptops), instead of having to be powered with a regular ATX powersupply. It'd be nice to power your epia with a laptop adaptor, those are easy to find and powerfull enought. My IBM thinkpad adapter is 72W, powerfull enough for a dvd + hd + epia. : ) Anyone an idea where one can get those really silent Seagate 10Gb disks (without mutilating an Xbox)? :) |
Those seagate laptophd not good enough for ya :D? Now they have 5400rpm version with 8mb cache :o |
scroll down and you'll see the psu Morex 55W PSU and DC-DC Converter Kit 64 pond sterling is quite expensive though, for what it is. |
Xbox seagates are LOUD. At least the one I had :p |

Look they're kind of cheap (since last time i checked for laptop stuff, a 20gb travelstar @4300rpm cost €120, they are cheaper compared to the hitachi/ibm's) @MPL Seagate Momentus 20GB 5400RPM 2MB €105 Seagate Momentus 20GB 5400RPM 8MB €114 Seagate Momentus 40GB 5400RPM 2MB €153 Seagate Momentus 40GB 5400RPM 8MB €159 the price diffrence between the 8mb and 2mb are minimal :hello: I think I'll buy a 40gb/8mb soon for my titanium, wanna know I'll get a performance boost :D |
front panel cut-out, not finished yet.. |
professional painting |
you need to hold the paint bottle vertical, not horizontal |

My upcomming 200GB, 7200RPM, 8MB, cache seagate hard drive will be more quiet then my original seagate U5 series Xbox hard drives. What reminds mee that I bought 2 250GB maxtors, and I still have to install them :D |
