did some modding today, call it extreme
so in case you wouldn't know, its my maxtor 80GB ata 133 thats getting done.
here is a little walktrough :super:
this pic is a little blurry but you can see whats all about

the backside for a moment

hddcover applied in bench

off we go, started with dremeling that cover to pieces

other view

wow that went fast, just used 3 wheels and a spare one

so cover is done, i call it a succes

just have to saw that plexi and some perfection needed.(handy tool delivered with my dremel, sort of spinning blade, i'll take a pic later)

plexicover sawed and finisched

so just looking that its ready or not

now just glue it, i used some epoxyglue for that

to mix the epoxy good you can use a spare peace of plexi or something

epoxy is mixed and ready to apply

epoxy applied on hddcover(whats left of it):p btw: it sticks like hell

cover is glued on it, you have to be 100% sure when you apply it.

forgot to say, its still drying so i'll post some pics about 1-2h

thats it 4 today, just doing some voltmodding later this day

cheers :super:

I like it this way.
because:
- front looks still the same as normal state, except for the hdd window. But If you start cutting in that front It won't look that profesionel anymore. (smooth edges etc)
-the small window shows enough, your platters and the moving thing.
-the effect of the light is better with the small window (I think)

EDIT: btw, that leds on the hdd, make it your hdd-led :D
