HS of P4 server Would it do any good to saw line's in a heatsink, can't explain it in ENG so will make a pic :) IMG just wondering if it would perform better and,... i shall write an howto if it does cause i'm a bit bored today :) |
it would increase surface area, but I don't think you would gain more than 2°c. |
I don't think it will give any advantage at all in my humble opinion. |
If you're bored, just give it a try ;). |
I think it will ... when air is blown upon the heatsink it will be able to go to any side it chooses, thus making the contact-area bigger and prolly better cooling but indeed don't think more than 2°C decrease |
will do it tomorow, HS is removed already and maybe i will lap it but it's allu so don't think it will be that nacesary (or how you write it :p ) pic's will come ;) |
Interesting to see the outcome.;) |
haven't got the time jet, mowing the garden and stuff :x but,...tomorow it's sunday so i will be bored if i don't do something fast :x |
your saw must be smaller than the fins of the heatsink. For a bigger surface. But when you put a fan on it my whole theorie makes no sense :D Because I don't know how the air will move between the heatsink ;) |
