How is that new SL6WK doing in ocing?
And, what is your asking price on that killer 2.4C?

kristos 21st October 2004 19:47

well, going by what I got from gamer's posts, it's not worth the upgrade if you got decent high speed ram.

WeldZilla 23rd October 2004 16:35

Well I was hoping that mem would be earth shattering. I will tell you my OCZ will run 2-3-2-5 at 433 DDR. Just wish it would run 2-2-2-5 . You know I have done soooo much experimenting with this new SL6WK I will have to take the time to start a new thread.
Would you post some sandra scores along with some cpu-z's
with your new mem

$ 150 or best offer I'll ship and insure. Make the best offer and you will have one of the fastest 2.4C's ever made. You know I have had guys tell me they clocked higher but when I run on to them in the benchmarks everyone of them has been no where near where I benched.

WeldZilla

kristos 23rd October 2004 17:02

well, I PM'ed you about it a few days ago but I guess you missed it.

Do you ship outside US also?

If you do, 150€ shipping included or not?

PS: maybe put your chip up for sale in the "for sale" forum ;)

jmke 23rd October 2004 17:49

$150 not €150 Kristos:)

kristos 23rd October 2004 23:02

oh, right thanks :)

all the better :) if he's willing to ship overseas... :D

Gamer 28th October 2004 14:35

little update :

highest with 2.5-3-3-5 timings on 2.75v.

3-4-4-8 doesn't help anything.

jmke 28th October 2004 15:07

~280 is about I can run get out my Gskill also on the A64 setup with mem divider set to 200:180; but I rather suspect my CPU with C0 stepping to be the cause, I have a CG 3200+ coming very soon to find out if that changes anything

how high can you clock with CL2 2-2-5 ?

Gamer 28th October 2004 15:36

216-220 max.

jmke 28th October 2004 16:14

that's pretty darn good, how do you test for stability?

I run memtest86+ and SuperPI / 3Dmark loop for stability, maxxes out ~210Mhz here on P4

Gamer 28th October 2004 16:28

super PI - gaming ...

lucky sticks I guess :)

jmke 28th October 2004 17:04

no; not really, you just don't stress the memory hard enough, other reviews with TCCD Samsung also max out at 210-215 with CL2 2-2-5

try to run memtest86+ at those 220 timings:)

after memtest has begun running press

c
2
5

enter

jmke 29th October 2004 23:01

Jackpot!

here's some DDR600 @ 2.7v action for you!

got me a new A64 CG stepping which helped me push the FSB higher; and discovered that on S754 running 2 sticks limits your max FSB by quite a bit (275 does not pass :()

CL2.5 4-3-7 and a whole bunch of other settings straight from http://www.gskill.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53

I'm going to see how I can take this, normally Memtest86+'s test #5 crapped even in the first Pass; not it keeps on going and going and going :)

kristos 30th October 2004 00:09

nice, 512 stick too :super:

jmke 30th October 2004 00:21

here's my Mushkin PC3200 LVLII Special series BH-6 stick; look at the timings :)

jmke 30th October 2004 00:29

I think I'm feeding the ram 3.55-3.65v with the DDR Booster, the CM Realpower doesn't have the -5v rail which is needed for the LED display on the DDR booster

kristos 30th October 2004 12:41

some very nice clocks again at that voltage :)

I would not have expected your 300mhz 2.5-4-3-7 gskill to outperform your 270mhz 2-2-2-10 mushkin's though :wow:

you said on telenet that timings are not as important as they used to be. is this generally true or does this only apply to A64 (for now)?

jmke 30th October 2004 13:53

I said on Telenet that CAS latency is not that important, the others are still golden:) but that's mostly from my experience with P4

I'm still a n00b at A64:)

I need to get an OS reinstalled to bench in Windows

btw, the problem with GSkill has been found (I think) one of the sticks might be faulty, have to verify for sure today

jmke 30th October 2004 14:20

both sticks seem to Pass memtest86+ at rated speeds, individually, but when I put both in, they produce errors :(

epox 9nda3+ and gskill 2*256 pc4800 DC

not to shabby hey ;)

That's the reason I wait to order my new s939 rig, those epox boards seem to hit a large HTT but have crappy volt lines :(

still for dual channel this is pretty rare no?

crappy volt lines? in what way? to much fluctuation in the supplied voltage? got a link for that statement? not that I don't believe you, just because I'm interested :)

Da_BoKa 8th December 2004 23:15

overvolting options
Vcore: 1.55-1.70 in 0.05v steps
Vdimm: 2.50-2.80 in 0.1v steps *2.80v undervolts and is fluctuates
Vagp: 1.50 to 1.80 in 0.1v steps
Vdd: 1.60-1.75 in 0.05v steps

pros
runs great with ocz eb
runs great with bh5
runs great with ballistix
runs great with tccd
uses the 5v rail to derive vdimm
port80 diagnostic display

cons
problems with 512mb sticks latest bios seems to fix this
WARNING! do NOT use the ocz DDR booster on this board! vdimm above 2.8v will fry a mosfet and kill the board!
coldboot issues, random crashes and freezes from usb hardware (mouse keyboard printer etc)
cant run command rate 1t in slots 1&2 latest bios seems to fix this
vdimm is stuck at 2.7v and wont rise seems to work fine for some people
cpu temperature not reading correctly seems to work fine for some people
vcore ovp at 1.9v
only memory without a heatspreader will fit in slot1 with an xp120

edit: got it from XS;)

jmke 8th December 2004 23:18

that's impressive CON list :(

You bet ya, especially the volt lines, it seems like you have to be very lucky with this board, but when you do it rocks

kristos 9th December 2004 00:50

I saw that post and I remember thinking that it wasn't that big of a deal.

But going through the list some things sink in and suddenly this board really looses it's appeal.

problems with 512mb sticks latest bios seems to fix this
--> ok this is a big prob for gaming, a little for benching 3dmark05 (hearsay) and not at all for overclocking.
WARNING! do NOT use the ocz DDR booster on this board! vdimm above 2.8v will fry a mosfet and kill the board!
--> bummer but not that big of a deal (yes I'm getting more confident with my Vmodding skills :p)
coldboot issues, random crashes and freezes from usb hardware (mouse keyboard printer etc)
--> ok this is a real big problem, sort of rules out this board for anything other then overclocking/bechmarking (bios fix?)
cant run command rate 1t in slots 1&2 latest bios seems to fix this
--> another biiiiig con
vdimm is stuck at 2.7v and wont rise seems to work fine for some people
--> Vmod
cpu temperature not reading correctly seems to work fine for some people
--> if it reads too high ok, if it reads too low oh oh :/
vcore ovp at 1.9v
ok who needs 1.9V!! I would think only under cascade phasechange may this become a problem...
only memory without a heatspreader will fit in slot1 with an xp120
--> so what, most people can clock a few mhz higher without the heatspreaders anyway and you still have bank2+4 for DC

WeldZilla 13th December 2004 05:03

New GSKILL for me too!

I have for the last few years used OCZ exclusively. When I got my new 3.0C SL6WK chip the clocks it can achieve. The OCZ just did not fit! I ran the 4000Gold Rev.2 with TCCD chips but it ran out of stability above 257 fsb set at 1:1 With timings of 2.5-3-3-6
It did not matter the timings it just would take a mem crap after about 1/2 hour. So OCZ traded me straight across for 3200 Platinum Rev.2. Again 257 fsb running 1:1 with the same 2.5-3-3-6 timings. Again after about an hour it would become unstable. However I could run easily at 273 fsb using the 5:4 divider for DDR433 at 2-2-2-5 timings. Less bandwidth but, great Throughput. This would give me a cpu score of about 12,500 in Aquamark. The best I ever did with the 4000 was an Aquamark CPU score of 12,654. I ordered a 512 meg set 2 x 256 sticks of OCZ EL 4200. My motherboard just hated the stuff!! No matter the voltage or the timings I could not get higher than 240fsb @ 1:1 no matter the timings! So I sent it back. I ordered a 512 kit of GSKILL 2 x 256 sticks just to play with. Well My board likes this stuff. It runs smoothly at a daily clock 0f 269 fsb 4037mhz Mem set @ 1:1 for a DDR of 538 with timings set at 2.5-3-3-6 no sweat.
My Aquamark score has gone up from 12,654 to 12,937. Every bench I have run now has a new high mark. This mem is great!!
I'll post up some pics now.
That sandra and cpu-z show my daily clock!
PCmark high score with new GSKILL
Here is that new high CPU score on AQMK3

I purchased this mem from here for $140 US
http://store.yahoo.com/digi4me/gs51kit2x2dd2.html

Well worth it!!
