Gainward GLH 9800GT 512MB

3 Attachment(s)
Voltage of the GPU

Standard voltage = 1.13v
OVP = 1.13v + 180mV = 1.31v (seems to be rather 1.3v + 180mV = 1.48v)
Pin19 = FB, 100k resistor between pin and ground

Voltage of the MEMORY

Standard voltage = 2.10v
Max voltage = 2.45v

Measurement points

Blue = Vgpu
Green = Vmem

Let's hope for +800GPU /+2000 Shaders action :)

Massman 27th July 2009 10:59

Doing a quick test with the first card at 1.265v Vgpu. 800/2000/1200 is GT4/03 stable, without artifacts.

830gpu, 2100sha is no-go

Massman 27th July 2009 11:39

Increased voltage to 1.35v to see effect on overclockability and temperature.

850c = no-go; 830 is stable
2100s = artifacts/lock-ups; 2000s is just fine
1200m = still okay

Massman 27th July 2009 11:57

Not worth to increase voltage that much. If I were you, I'd stick to 1.265v and freqs of 800/2000/1300, which is perfectly stable.

lower temperatures will probably help more

leeghoofd 27th July 2009 12:42

maybe 830/2000 shaders ? and rams at 1200Mhz, is that posible at 1.26 ?

650GPU, 1625 Shaders en 1100mhz rams John

jmke 27th July 2009 13:52

Massman already replied to that Albrecht

Ik heb ze speciaal gekocht omdat er speciale rams op zitten, normaal ist maar 900mhz rams , deze zijn stock 1100mhz (met ruimte :p)

Second card is SLIghtly better; for dual card setup we need to downclock.

at what speed is that MM :).

Massman 27th July 2009 18:09

Not that high

leeghoofd 27th July 2009 18:18

Thx for testing Massie, hope to get some good scores with them cards, hoping the OCZ Blades are still okayish

PowerToTheUsers 27th July 2009 18:33

P55-bordje? :)

leeghoofd 27th July 2009 19:18

nope, look closer

Da's dan toch met een ander moederbord dan op die foto's hierboven?

Ja, met dat ander moederbord mag ik niks posten

Hi, nice VRAM on that 9800GT.
What about some more voltages with better VGA coolers?

Btw, I just realize that those cards supports triple SLi :)

Massman 29th July 2009 10:14

More volts don't really help in this case: going up from 1.265v to 1.35v gains me 30MHz on the core and nothing on the shaders. Lower temperatures are the way to go, I think.

The PCB is the one of a GTX I presume. Nvidia never supported 3-way sli for the GT cards, so even if I connect a third card, it's most likely there's a problem with the drivers.

leeghoofd 29th July 2009 10:21

I have several VGA coolers here, will see, once I fetch the cards... so we need to get them sub 60°C to get more out of them (since they still top at 60-65°C with the boxed cooler)

Massman 29th July 2009 10:36

Do you have a watercooling setup?

leeghoofd 29th July 2009 12:16

I have a watercooling setup but no blocks for them cards... Been looking for some Swiftech MC60-R but can't find them at a decent price (there's one that has 2 MC60's but they are not cmpaible to all Nvidia, ATI cards...) for single vga we can mod a mount of a normal CPU block ( I see the XSPC is the same for the GPU as the CPU ), for SLI I would need them Swiftechs... or sortlike...

New blocks would cost around 45 euro's a piece, without shipping fees...

First up: more cooling on the CPU. Too bad I still haven't made a couple of LGA1366 mounting holes for my Mach2 unit ...

leeghoofd 29th July 2009 19:32

this makes me absolutely sick !

Massman you are aware that if ya HD's are full of Data that they weigh at least 100grams more ?

Massman 29th July 2009 19:37

The more the merrier.

Currently running 4.5G 3D stable ... cool!

mAlkAv!An 29th July 2009 22:15

I had several G92 cards(88GS/GT/GTS) and they always scaled good with more voltage on air. Even with 1.4V+ and an ACS1 on it.

Massman 29th July 2009 22:24

Yeah, it seems to be scaling so incredibly bad ... weird.

Anyhow, here's world record #2

leeghoofd 29th July 2009 23:30

I'll be back !!! top job :)
