finally found something worth upgrading to ? ;p

The Senile Doctor 21st May 2005 14:46

not yet...
it looks great, however my gaming rig is used exclusively for gaming... so there's really no advantage... but it looks so great....

My Venice does not give out much heat at all (1.6 Vcore and even at 1.7); unless you find a willing core overclocking >2800 may not have a lot to do with temperature.

Don't see the need for immediate upgrade in a gaming rig. However, if find yourself a good excuse to, AMD sure beats Intel AGAIN.

Now I realy consider upgrading my pc, altough it will cost me a lot more than a single 3000+ .
First need to get loads of money to buy me a rig wich I can use at least 2 years (good thing is, stuff gets better and cheaper after a while, so waiting isn't such a bad idea)

This thing kicks *** ......

Start saving money ...... should hit the market in one week in the U.S.

kristos 24th May 2005 02:28

I suppose you get your samples straight from AMD?

Sidney 24th May 2005 02:50

Guess who could get their hands on them before the official release date, common sense tells me -

1) AMD selected individuals/review sites/PR groups.
2) People who are not directly related but connected to (1) above.
3) Early arrival inventory that should not be sold until the release date.

Additionally, it might well be hand picked or sorted.:)

I don't really care where he gets those nice toys as long as he shares the outcome with us.:^D

yes but that's the point, the venice and san diego review samples that were given for testing to some of the more renowned XS members all turned out to be handpicked given their performance compared to the results we saw from the mainstream chips.

Sampsa got his review sample straight from AMD and I wouldn't doubt for a moment that it is handpicked.

I wouldn't be surprised eather if windwithme's proc was handpicked aswell.

These previews are nice, don't get me wrong. They show what we can expect from these new chips but in terms of overclocking and other issues like the memory controller and ondie temp probe, I rather wait untill there is more news from the mainstream channels.
