Intel CPU Heatsink S775 Roundup June 2006 We compare nine different Intel socket 775 heatsinks from Thermalright, Zalman, Titan, Scythe, GlobalWin and Thermaltake in our latest roundup. Can they prevent a Pentium 4 Prescott from melting without ruining our ears? Letīs find out. http://www.madshrimps.be/gotoartik.php?articID=433 |
no conroe, no interest in 775 cooling I guess |
soon conroe, much interest in 775 cooling, we are ahead of the pack :) |
I agree! I have a related Intel cooler question for ya though... As you have both the 9500AT and 9500AM2 coolers, from everything I've dug up the mounting point on the base of the cooler appears to be identical on these. For some reason I like the look of the 9500 AM2 cooler to much to let go... I can nab the missing Intel mounting hardware, but I just wanted to ask if you saw any incompatibilities or potential problems in doing this before I eventually plunk down that much for a cooler? Thanks! |
hey there, we don't have the AM2 version, but the S939 version we tested in the past; you'd have to buy 2xZ9500 to make em fit:) the base unit is "one" design and the installation kits are different; I'm speaking for S775 <> S939 versions here; have no experience with the AM2 aha, Piotke to the rescue, check the pics below:) |
Piotke to the rescue ! Zalman 9500 AM2: Zalman 9500 CNPS; Zalman 9500AT all have the same base. So how about the mounting ? Wait a second for that. |
The AM 2 version uses a clip, much as the AC freezer 64. Advantage is that it can allso be used on socket 939. Both the 9500CNPS and tha 9500 At need screews for installation. |
Ah, sorry! Thought it was here I read that review on the 9500AM2... ;) Thank you both very much for the help & pics! I was pretty sure the mounting point on the unit itself was identical, but I wanted to be absolutely sure. Your posts pretty much confirm what I was thinking... I have a friend that can send me the unused Intel mounting hardware from his own 9500 that he installed on a socket939 system, so that isn't a problem. I figure Zalman may release yet another cooler version for Conroe, but even so I'll probably stick with that AM2 9500, since I no longer have a stock cooler left for my current rig to change out for the 7700Cu I use. Again, I appreciate the help! Thank you kindly :) :excellent |

They already have 4 versions of the CNPS9500 out there (None of them their red copper Fatal1ty brand either!). Considering how tricked out the AM2 variant is over the original model when all they had to do was change the mounting bar packaged with it, I believe they might decide to try the same with Conroe's own launch if it'll lives up to expectations. It's just my theory anyway, maybe they'll just release an Intel Fatal1ty CNPS9500 instead... Considering the long list of coolers on their website I don't see why they wouldn't mind adding another few more. ;) |
