Bugtesting - Improvements: new site index

Hey all - I've added links to subcategories to the main page which filters both our own reviews and the web news.

Your feedback and ideas are much appreciated - test page: http://www.madshrimps.be/

very good, I like it.
My input; articles and daily news do not have to be the same filter catagories if necessary to show more of what [M] is best at.

jmke 1st March 2006 15:30

what would you suggest?

Sidney 1st March 2006 15:38

Not at the moment; I was merely pointing out the possibility;)

isn't it not better to group a few different cats instead of having 50 different ones?

Yes, the group approach is very good and will certainly beat 50 different individual catagories

jmke 1st March 2006 16:37

so you want other groups for the daily news? wouldn't that make thing confusing?

:)

"if necessary"

Key words;)

"to show more if what [M] is best at."

Just a consideration, perhaps down the road.:)

jmke 1st March 2006 17:09

"to show more if what [M] is best at."

that phrase I don't understand, hihi, is it me?

Bosw8er 1st March 2006 17:32

less = more

visibility improvements:
- centered polls and free things
- conspicous red color the accentuate the categories
- removed top category choice line

I would include "daily" news on the category - choice - line. Mainly because one would notice there's a choice when opening the new default index ... the "daily" item would be conspicuous red then in this example

Bosw8er 1st March 2006 17:33

gettin old and forgetting to attach

Excellent idea: http://www.madshrimps.be/?subcategory=cpumemoc

that I don't quite get: you want me to add another "daily" word somewhere?

Sidney 1st March 2006 18:30

Sorry, I did not make clear -
"to show more if what [M] is best at"

Example-
[M] is famous in heatsink air cooling which gains the most hits and attention. IF that is what we consider; I do;)

Don't quite like that commie red, sorry ... I prefer the [M] red.

jmke 1st March 2006 18:32

what is the [M] red? ;) at least this one stands out a lot:)

Sidney 1st March 2006 18:47

[M] red is the one right here:)

jmke 1st March 2006 18:51

it's too dark on black background and would be less effective than white color even in my humble opinion

Bosw8er 1st March 2006 18:56

Glad you like it !

Agree with Lazyman on commy-red, maybe you could try bright green or yellow or ... *"ding dong" we got a winnar* bright orange

daily: see attach capiche ?

jmke 1st March 2006 19:12

BRIGHT ORANGE it is:)

At Golden Gate Bridge there's a Hummer and I'm talking about the car.
One Hummer here, two Guardsmen, same at the other end of the bridge.
The problem is that the Hummer and the Guardsmen
are in jungle camouflage.
For those who never been to SF, the bridge is bright orange.
So I feel like going: "Be vely, vely quiet.
We're wooking for tewwowists."

webnews thread layout has been updated, to make it look more "streamlined".. I hope.

what other improvements could there be had? your input? :)

FireTech 19th May 2006 23:16

off topic: Like the streamlining to the news items links to external sites but took a while to work out..:^D

jmke 21st May 2006 13:09
