Note: High Dynamic Range (HDR) is available in this patch, but it is an unsupported beta feature. In-game graphics need to be Very High and antialiasing must be disabled in order to use HDR. The various modes of HDR (1 through 11) can be set via the command line using the r_hdrrendering variable, i.e. "C:...FarCry.exe" -DEVMODE "r_hdrrendering 1".

so it improves visuals!
framerates higher also?

jmke 26th October 2004 13:29

with HDR enabled ~33% lower (duh)
without, average performance up due to shader improvements

The Senile Doctor 26th October 2004 14:54

that means not nearly playable on high end systems at 1280*1024*2fsaa*8af...

read up on HDR before making such statements please

FSAA + HDR = no go
so it's either 1600x1200 FSAA
or 1024x768 HDR

I don't get all this very well.

jmke 26th October 2004 15:32

apparantly ;)

forget about HL² or D3, HDR makes Far Cry the best looking game out there, period.

and using some shader tweaks in the options menu you can go from this happy joy joy paradise shot:
