gigabit UTP cable? Where can one buy cat5-e cable for gigabit lan? Is cat5-e cable really necessary, or will cat5 suffice in most cases too? |
I think CAT5 will suffice, try it out at least, if you experience unacceptably low transfer speeds, then consider buying the other CAT5-E cable. |
ok, thx for the info :) |
cat 5e required (doesn't cost a dime more) cat6 is even better but is more expensive |
darn, need to upgrade then? haven't worked with gigabit over CAT yet (fibre yes ;) ) |
well, i supose good quality cat5 will do. only the frequency rate is the big difference between the cat5(e)-cat6. some minor changes to prevent data loss and collision, but nothing fancy. however, all copper gigabit devices clearly state cat5e-cat6 |
i could get my hands on a fair amount of CAT6 and/or CAT5E UTP cable ... is there any interest in this? i'm not planning to waste my time with trying to get us a deal here, if nobody's interested in buying some in the end ... |
if you can get your hand on some cat6, i'd like to buy 10-15m off you :) |
as said on SG, it's very likely i'll have about 1000ft at home this week :) |
make that 30-40m and you got a reasonable deal DURON :) |
