Default what 754?

I'm looking to buy a socket 754 cpu, but I was wondering which one would be the best to oc. I mean, since the multipliers are locked which one would I buy best.
Experiences are also welcomed.
sincerely, Randy

3000+/3200+ are okay if you like 2400-2600Mhz overclocks

if you are on a tight budget, the 2800+ A64 or 3100+ Sempron might be worth considering also

Semprons stink for overclocking though... and you'll need a board with a working AGP/PCI lock with the 2800 for sure, with the other two you might need it.

2.2ghz Sempron is far from bad in my humble opinion

"By disabling and changing up various AGP and PCI components, we were able to go to 2.2 GHz, so the lack of AGP and PCI locking really was the culprit. "

agp and pci locks will pose no problems (will buy the lp ut 250gb), so I'll probably go with a 3200.
thx guys!!!!

It's not bad but from an overclocking point of view, it's not somehting I'd spend my money on. Either you stick with Axp and get a mobile, or you make the transition to A64 and you get a "real" A64 proc.

overclocking point of view is most bang for the buck. since the Sempron 3100+ costs less but doesn't do 64-bit, you have a fast CPU for use now, which overclockers far from bad. and once 64-bit WinXP is there, you will be able to pick up a new or used A64 for a price lower then you paid for the 3100+

newcastle cores overclock the best

go 3200+ if you have the money, definately, the flexibility of a higher multiplier is good

clawhammers (1mb cache ,)) are near impossible to find, there are still some very expensive 3400's for sale here and there but the 3200 clawhammer? Tell me where (and what stepping) and I'm buying right away
