2 Attachment(s)
MSI is organizing the Masters Overclocking Arena 2009 this year with Qualifiers in different countries and regions. Madshrimps has to honor to send their best overclocker to the second round, held in the Netherlands.

The Belgian Online Qualifier starts Today (15/5) and runs until next month 5th June 2009.. The winner of the first round will go to the Netherlands on June 13th where they will have to overclock against 2 winners for a place in the EU finals in Germany in July (10~12th July). The Grand Finale will be held in September in Beijing!

But we're not there yet; in order to make a chance to get a seat in the final you'll have to wrestle your way through the Belgian Qualifier.

Hardware Requirements

jmke 15th May 2009 17:02

The winner of the Belgian Qualifiers can pick a friend to come with him to the Netherlands to help him ;)

How about dual-CPU setups?
How about dual-GPU-cards with one GPU disabled (if that's possible on a 9800GX2 :?? )

Those SuperPi 1M and 3DM01SE-scores: are those for place 1 to 8 of the participants, or places 1-8 with that cpu/gpu on HWBot?

So the best chance to win is with the fastest cpu (+oc) and fastest gpu (+oc), so only for expensive hardware?

jmke 15th May 2009 18:45

dual CPU: knock yourself out; SUperPI & 3DMark are single threaded:)
dual GPU: nope, 9800GX2/GTX295 and others not allowed (even if one GPU is hacked to be disabled)

top scores here, not at the bot.

PowerToTheUsers 15th May 2009 18:58

So it will be an expensive competition?

jmke 15th May 2009 19:14

when has high end overclocking ever been cheap? :D

Jip 15th May 2009 22:27

how one makes for register ??

jmke 15th May 2009 22:30

bench 3D01 and Super Pi 1M, submit scores in HWbot under your account, post the links here.

Jip 15th May 2009 22:32

Ah ok, i thinking that we must register and after post the bench, like that we know who's join the contest :)

PowerToTheUsers 15th May 2009 22:33

Like this:

SuperPi 1M: 10.297sec
QX9650 @ 4505.9MHz

hopefully, better results will follow next week :p

jmke 15th May 2009 22:36

Jip 15th May 2009 22:40

thank you very much for the example...

But i'll find the time :D

Good luck m8... ;)

leeghoofd 16th May 2009 17:28

quite an investment, do you **** money? :)

leeghoofd 16th May 2009 20:58

yeah compares well to my 5-10 euro S478 CPU's :p

OneyedK 18th May 2009 00:50

X38 no longer allowed?

Best of luck to the participants!

Massman 18th May 2009 06:41

X38 is still allowed

jmke 18th May 2009 09:03

not allowed! only 4 series Intel chipsets
P45/X48...etc

Massman 18th May 2009 09:15

^^

X38 is just a lower-binned, less-tuned X48.

jmke 18th May 2009 10:02

label & rules dont agree, no matter what/how the tech behind this is

PowerToTheUsers 18th May 2009 15:38

So dual-cpu setups are ruled out anyway...
Adding mainboard to the "to buy"-list :(

Massman 18th May 2009 16:18

LN2 is still allowed, I hope? :p

jmke 18th May 2009 16:22

there's no restriction on cooling, you know that:p

Massman 18th May 2009 22:46

Changed preferred videocard to 9600GT. Should be able to get the WR in that category quite easily :D

leeghoofd 18th May 2009 23:11

Top cards are under LN2, for the CPU you need to be at 5.5-6ghz with the E8600 (no biggie ) to do that... I wish you the best of luck in ya quest :p

Fingers crossed

Massman 19th May 2009 08:42

LN2 container is already mounted, voltmods are already in place ;)

leeghoofd 19th May 2009 09:28

Benching on the REX or I7 ? received 2 478 cpu's, will try to grab some points for the team; you still coming to pick up ya gear on thursday ? In the forenoon I visit the big bosses villa with swimming pool and room for a pony.
