Mushkin Does Liquid Cooling! eXtreme Performance Liquid Tested

Cooling/Water Cooling by leeghoofd @ 2009-04-01

This week I received an unexpected delivery. The parcel was send by Mushkin Europe... I expected some new rams or a power supply, seemed I was in for a nice surprise. The package contained three white 1 liter cans. There was not much info on them, besides Extreme Performance and some technical mumbo jumbo concerning the mixture of the cooling fluid. Got your attention ? If so Read on.. if not read on too!

Mushkin Fluid and results

TEST SETUP AND RESULTS

I normally use colourless fluids as I don't want my tubing to change colour in time and Fluo stuff isn't really my thing. This Mushkin Fluid however, will only be available in 3 different colours : Orange, Red and Green. I can only show you a picture with the fluid in the Micro reservoir, as my entire tubing has been replaced with Black tubing since the I7 testing. I seem to have got the orange type. I have no idea why Mushkin chose these colours : green and red anyone can explain (ATI/NVIDIA), the orange one leaves me clueless (maybe especially for the Dutch market)

I can confirm you it's more orange looking when properly lighted. This must sell like hot potatoes in the Netherlands.

Testing Methodology :

As I already got the recent results of the Swiftech GTZ ( I7 Round up ) it was easy to compare as the block was still mounted. I completely drained the loop , flushed it several times and finally poured in the new Extreme Performance fluid. Leakage test was done during 2 hours, plus to drain any of the existing air out of the loop. For the test itself, I ran a 2 hour small FFT prime session. This to give the fluid enough time to absorb the generated heat and so providing us with more stable results. The block itself was remounted twice to verify the final test results. Temp Read out was done via RealTemp software as it allows me to read the lowest and highest temperatures. (apparently the new Coretemp also has this feature)

Amazing high temp differences observed, even up to 7°C under load. I really didn't expect this and verified all my parameters. The readouts had to be correct. The GTZ water block mount is almost perfect. I already hear you say : the TIM and/or ambient could have messed up my readings. Yet my room was at 21°C Ambient all the time. Secondly the TIM couldn't have influenced the results as I didn't remove the block. So I re-drained the loop, flushed and refilled it with IP Protect. The temp difference wasn't altered at all, this Mushkin Extreme Fluid kicks butt. I will try this fluid in my S775 rig too and will add results to this review...(to be continued)

How does it taste?

I was gonna ask the same thing. Looking at the can, I almost thought Mushkin entered the energy drink business.
