TwinTech and Vvikoo overclocked 9600GT, 5-way roundup

Videocards/VGA Reviews by geoffrey @ 2008-05-19

For quite some time now NVIDIA has allowed their partners to sell their reference products at overclocked speeds with a custom VGA cooler. Today we take a look at two of such none-reference clocked 9600GT video cards, one from newcomer Vvikoo and one from last year startup, TwinTech. We´ll investigate how the extra clocks make the product stand out compared to 3 other samples we have tested before.

The 3D Mark benchmark applications are one of the first stress tests for any incoming review sample. Futuremark's software may not be 100% representative of gaming performance; you do get an idea of what we can expect from a new set of video cards. Besides, a 3D Mark test session requires only 2 clicks and after approx. 10 minutes you get a score which should indicate the speed of your pc configuration. Do keep in mind that 3D Mark tests the entire hardware setup; results do not always reflect the power of the graphics card alone.

Close competition this is, TwinTech 9600GT takes the lead here due to the massive overclock on the memory, ending very close to the 8800GT.

3D Mark 2006 shows us roughly the same results, TwinTech 9600GT on top followed shortly by Vvikoo's 9600GT. Both score around 7% higher than the reference 9600GT, the 8800GT still remains in front though, the extra shader power certainly comes in handy. Onto our game tests to find out what our contenders are made of ->
