Lord of the RAM, Return of the MushkinG

Memory by KeithSuppe @ 2005-05-16

Mushkin has been a supplier of quality PC and Server based memory since the days of SDRAM. Today [M] has been invited along on Mushkin?s latest excursion as they once again prove themselves worthy as the DDR Ring Bearer, and the Lord of the RAM.

1GB Black XP4400 (2x512MB)

Mushkin's XP4400 is also included in the Extreme Performance category and is most certainly an Enthusiast part. Intended for overclocking, its default 275FSB speed (1:1 = DDR550 or PC4400) is ideally suited for an AMD systems since many AMD motherboard maker's provide BIOS functions allowing the adjustment of open multipliers. The memory is rated at CL2.5-4-4-8 at 2.5 - 2.8V. I decided to test for tighter timings, and was able to hold CL2-2-2-6 at a lower operating speed 200FSB requiring just 2.6V. As with every memory tested, after benchmarks are completed at a specific speed/latency I take a screenshot of CPUZ Memory and SPD pages, as well as H'Odas WCPUID WCPUCLK to verify clock speed. These can be viewed by clicking on the thumbnails below. Our kit of XP4400 (2x512MB) ran at: 11x200FSB CL2-2-2-6 (2.8V), 9x265FSB CL2.5-4-4-8 (2.7V), 10x275FSB CL2.5-4-4-8 (2.8V), 9x285FSB CL2.5-4-4-8 (2.7V).
