Testing / Benching

Testing / Benching:

Ok, let"s torture this card!
The testbed :
- ABIT KR7A-RAID / VIA KT266A
- AMD Athlon XP 1700+
- Apacer DDRAM 256 MB PC2100
- 2x40GB maxtor D740X RAID
- DirectX 8.1 / VIA 4in1 437v(a)

As the reviewer is a lazy bastard, he decided to do only one benchmark... guess!

A few notes: I chose for 3Dmark because it"s widely spread, so most of you should be able to draw your own conclusions out of the graph. Less work for me, he he.
I didn"t just take all possible settings, but just the most used. I chose to use Aniso with the AA, because the two belong together, in my very humble opinion. It gives more "useable" results because many people that use anti-aliasing don"t only want a smooth image, they want it clear too. And right they are! For the phreaks, a small comparison:

Game 1 Car Chase - High Detail
1024*768 | 2x AA
48.1 FPS
1024*768 | 2x AA + 8 tap Aniso
41.9 FPS

And then another small one : here you can clearly see CPU power has a much higher impact as a vidcard overclock.

285 / 540 | 1024x768 | NoAA | 11*150MHZ

And a last one, as you can see, opening a few browser windows, playing mp3 with winamp, etc don"t really matter that much if you have a card like this. A measly 400 points, heh. Hooray for TI!
